Right mouse button on the NHC icon -> Max Performance.

i believe for both NHC and rmclock setting to max performance holds the voltage necessary for full clock but it does not clock up until it is loaded

I might be wrong but I think the cores switching to 1ghz is a feature of the cpu that is automatic.

I have used RMClock on several machines for a few months, if you have it setup correctly , you are setting voltage, and multiplier for each profile. If you set the application to run correctly, you should stay at whatever the highend speed you wanted, no jumping.

That being said... take a look around, I know that you have to disable a couple registers on core duo's to get them to listen, because the bios will over-take any settings you make. Check the rmclock forum for the complete solution. It's a bios setting, but I'm not sure if a laptop would have this much functionality... I'll know later today since my HEL80 should arrive and I can poke around.

This is to one of the posts on the matter.

now when you guys mentioned it i realized that this started happening after i upgraded my bios.

originally NHC at max performance would stay put and in dynamic switching would switch around.

so now there's no way to make my cpu "obey" ? :/

If you are considering a BIOS update, please do not make any changes unless you're having a problem and you know that the BIOS update will fix that particular problem. I feel this is important to note for the others who may be considering a BIOS update on their systems.

powernotebooks tech support suggested i should update my bios.

i had an unknown device, and the technician i contacted could not tell its the tpm module. and i guess he did not pass on this information to the laboratory. the contacted me and told me to update my bios and see what happens.
eventually it was the TPM module ...but the update is done already ...

i am not sure why you told me all of this after i said i have already updated it ...just rubbing it in ? :)

so what do i do now ?!
anybody here has NHC with latest bios ?

That's unfortunate. Is everything else working OK?

Just to warn others who may be considering an unnecessary BIOS upgrade that there are potential unforeseen problems that may arise when doing so. Didn't mean to rub salt in the wound ;).

I don't think there should be any problems with TPM with the orignal BIOS. Now that you know what the problem is, perhaps you could flash it back to the original and reinstall the TPM driver.

In case you haven't already conferred with powernotebooks tech support on your current situation, I would suggest you see what they have to say as well.

Yeah I got that. I was just thinking that the orignal problem was the system wasn't recognizing TPM--leading to the current NHC issue. Hence my suggestion of flashing back and trying a reinstall of the TPM driver.

I'm not sure of anything, just making suggestions that may or may not help. I think your best bet is to follow PN tech support's suggestions. They have the best resources to help you solve this problem.

to get around it in NHC, set it to max performance, then set a multiplier and voltage, then tick the "use only multiplier #1 and voltage #1" it works for mine. Now it does not clock down. Its always set to max speed.

zeu569, i tried that and it still kept jumping between one and two gigahertz, if i use an older version of RMclock sending HLT commands on idle cycles i can get it to stay up at 1.7 to 1.9 but it still jumps between these settings regardles of what i set in rmclock. and this jumping around seems to be the cauce of some nasty popping and clicking in my firewire audio card output are you sure you have the latest bios ? and does anybody know if this infact is a "problem" that can be solved by reverting to say version 115 of the bios ?
