It has been made known that Zepto is considering offering the NOX A14 with the 9650m GT graphics card. Right now they are talking about only offering pre-built models that could not be customized. Ultimately I would like to see the card offered as a standard option through Zepto's different regional sites. I thought this thread could be a good place to demonstrate to Zepto the interest there may be for such a product. Please take a few seconds and express your opinion on the matter.
Also, if you are so inclinded take a few minutes and email Zepto in your region to express your interest.

i don't think the performance increase of 9650m-gt vs 9600m-gt will be worth the hassle.
-
Yeah I agree with whizzo... First I want to see reallife benches!
Whatabout the 3D mark Scores:
With my 8600M GT 512MB DDR2 I've got 3669 points with the 179.13 driver
With the 9600M GT 512MB DDR3 I've got 5520 points with the 179.13 driver
So I've gotten more points in reallife than Zepto says the cards will get
The tests were run @ 1280x800 and their benchmarks? I don't know
Than we will check it at: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html
The 8600M GT ( http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-8600M-GT.3986.0.html) is on place # 54 with 3347 points in 3D Mark '06
Core Speed * 475 MHz
Shader Speed * 950 MHz
Memory Speed * 400 MHz
The 9600M GT ( http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-9600M-GT.9449.0.html) is on place # 38 with 5095 points in 3D Mark '06
Core Speed * 500 MHz
Shader Speed * 1250 MHz
Memory Speed * 800 MHz
That's an increase of 1748 points in comparison with the 8600M GT
or an increase of 52,21% in comparison with the 8600M GT
The 9650M GT ( http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-9650M-GT.10764.0.html) is on place 31 with 5407 points in 3D Mark '06
Core Speed * 550 MHz
Shader Speed * 1325 MHz
Memory Speed * 800 MHz
That's an increase of 312 points in comparison with the 9600M GT
or an increase of 6,12% in comparison with the 9600M GT
Let's say the 9650M GT only scores 5% more than a 9600MGT, it has to score over 6000 points in 3D Mark '06 on the 1280x800 resolution!!
(based on my own benchmarks)
And if I read this:
According to Zepto (first manufacturer who announced the card) the 9650M GT should be up to 20% faster than a 9600M GT.
it has to get the 6100 points (5095 x 1,20) (based on NoteBookCheck)
it has to get the 6600 points (5500 x 1,20) (based on my own benchmarks)
Weird that a benchmark on NoteBookCheck only shows an increase of 6,12% (9600 vs 9650) -
thats because only 9650m gts with gddr2 are listed on notebookcheck.
-
It will be an option for us at some point. I cannot speak for the other Zepto "companies" though.
Only the initial A14's we have will be pre built. Well, almost pre built. Only 2 options, ram and OS. -
I'm definitely looking forward to hearing final specs and pricing on the pre-builts. I have been emailing back and forth with Zepto and it is going to be one heck of a system. Whether I am able to buy during the black Friday special or not will probably be determined by final pricing. Even if I can't buy then, I am really excited that Zepto USA is somewhat committed to providing custom configured 9650m GT equipped A14s in the future. That all but guarantees an A14 purchase in my future.
-
I Dont see the big deal with the 9650. It's just a oc'ed 9600 on a 45nm chip.
The bench marks difference is around 300 points in 3DMark 06. -
on a 55nm chip ;-)
-
The 9650m GT means both better performance and cooler temperatures. It will also make the A14 one of the most compact yet powerful notebooks in the world. Other 14" notebooks already have the 9650m GT, but my understanding is that they are GDDR2, not GDDR3 and are not as compact.

-
Obviously given the choice people in the market for a 9600 would prefer a 9650 over a 9600. With that said, I have never purchased a pre-built system and probably never will. So if the question is how many people would opt for 6% performance increase in exchange for no configurable options - I know I wouldn't but I can't speak for anyone else. I've already been fooling around on the Zepto site, it's 2008 - people love to customize
-
You can still configure an A14 with us, that has not changed.
You will however get a discount for Black Friday/Cyber Monday on a somewhat pre-optioned unit ( options will only be 4gb or 8gb ram, OS, and most likely one of two HD's ). -
2 HDD's... The same as no optical drive anymore...?
-
-
Ahh that should be possible...
But 'and most likely one of two HD's'
You can choose from 'one HDD' yeahhh... =s -
Right, I think we are giving on option to pick one of two different hard drivers, One is a higher speed but has less capacity than the other.
Optical drive will not be the Blue-Ray unit, this will help keep costs down.
Obviously the higher optioned unit will give the best price value since the discount will be greater. -
Ajaa 500GB 5400rpm versus 320GB 7200rpm =)
HITACHI MAKE A 500GB 7200RPM'ER PLEASE!!! -
If you want something other than the special, let me know and ill see what we can do seperate from the rest. -
You can pick an 9650m gt in Denmark now..
-
Price for the upgrade in Denmark is equivalent to about $70 US. Hopefully pricing falls in line in the US as well.
-
And if you're one of the lucky owners of a machine with already installed 9600M GT (wich only scores 6% from a 9650M GT in performance) you can drop 218 dollars for a 9650M GT and get even more ripped off....
I seiously can't see why people want this card... -
I see you keep quoting a 6% increase all over the forums. I've seen numbers everywhere from 3% increase to 20% increase from the 9600m GT. Zepto themselves have been claiming approximately 20% gains themselves.
Were you looking at the GDDR2 card?
An additional gain that should be seen beyond performance is lower operating temps. Given a reasonable upgrade price, I do see a great value in the 9650 GT over the 9600m GT. -
Nope that is the GDDR3 versions.
Me and CBL-NL have done the benchmarks. -
My 9650M GT benches were based on this post:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=4159911&postcount=3
So I don't know if they tested a 9650M GT DDR2 or DDR3...
@ rton20s: Lower operating temps... Whoow that's cool =s
The temperatures of the 9600M GT's are G R E A T so paying
prices for the 9650M GT in the pricerange about 115,- euro is dumb -
My former nox a15 scored about 5000 with 1280x1024 - 9600m gt
My mate just got his mythos, and scored about 5900, 1280x1024 - 9650m gt
Both with 2.5 cpu, and 4 gigs of ram
Big increase in my opinion. -
I'm scoring 5546 on my 9600M GT
-
-
Okay...
they should be up. -
Thanks ZeptoUSA! The deals look awesome.
Not trying to be stingy, but curious if there was still an additional coupon to type into the coupon slot? I know you mentioned youd be having one earlier on, but I could totally understand if this is the whole deal. I mean, $500 savings is pretty awesome on its own! -
The deal isnt as good as I wanted but it was the best I could do at this time. -
ZeptoUSA,
Please verify the A14 #1 deal. You listed the 9650 card in the previous post but the website lists the 9600 card for the Zepto NOX A14 BLACK FRIDAY SPECIAL.
Thanks. -
Ok, this is correct, Special #1 for both the A14 and A15 will have the 9600M. This was a email communication error between us and Zepto.
Sorry for the confusion. -
Thanks for your efforts on this Dave. And that goes for everyone at Zepto who worked to make this happen. It is unfortunate that I can't make any of those deals work for me at this time, but the A14 is still tops on my list when it is finally time to "pull the trigger."
