I was recently given a Compal Jax10. It is in great shape- looks basically new. Unfortunately it is missing the battery and charger.

Can anyone out there direct me to where I can buy a battery and charger for it? Or even what specs and numbers are on the battery so I can see what I can find? If anyone could tell me what the voltage/amps, etc... that it takes it would help. Or if you have one you want to sell....

I know these are "old school" and there are newer things out there, but this thing is just so cool looking that I want to get it running and have a chance to see what it can do and have some fun with it.

Any help you can give will be appreciated!

    :)

Turn it around, and the bottom there should be a sticker what voltage and amps the power supply needs - 4,79A and 19V, for example, or 3,42A and 19V .. .stuff like that.

    For battery, try google ...

P.S.: Just found out, this is not a laptop ... so just try google, and for get what I told you above.

    Good luck

There is NO battery in this compal and NO information on it about the battery. So..... I am totally frustrated by this thing.. It is exactly what I want to use, but since I am having no luck....... blah.

I am one of those people who has a pay as I go phones and want a device that doesn't have a phone with it for my calendar, address book, etc use.

Thanks for the advice- I will see what I can find. You are the fist person who has help and I can't tell you how much that means. :)

    Thanks Again,

    Lars (not a guy, a girl) :)

Honestly, you're probably better off with a Kindle Fire, Nook Tablet, or Blackberry Playbook. You can find those for around $140 each.

Yeah- probably, but they just aren't as cool old tech as this thing :)

I did find a Nokia n810 that is working great for me. I have shelved the Compal for a future time just in case something does turn up.

I am totally against the kindle, nook idea for me. I don't like locked down tech. I am married to a linux programer and love to be able to just have my options open and being able to program it to my personal needs/choices. That is just my own opinion and know that others love theirs and I think that is great- just not for me.
