I'm happy v1.15 user but... yes oooooook, I will test the new version with XP Pro, Vista and Linux - I just can't resist.
-
I'm also on 1.15 and things run smoothly with Linux here. If it works, don't try to fix it!
Wasn't there supposed to be a 1.16 before 1.17?
R. -
I noticed 1.17 was much better at high temperatures during gaming. I prefere a bit more noice instead of a sudden shut-down. -
I'm very desapointed with my noisy Zepto grrr... i've tried all bios , but the fan it's working all the time! My cpu is at 45º and the fan is working and working grrrr... i wanna a silent laptop pleaseeee!!!
It's possible to have a bios that only turn on the fan @ 55º ? 60º ? grrr -
-
Fortunately i dont have any problem with the fan.
My temps with Everest are always around 40º, and the fan is noiseless.
But well i couldn't resist, i've updated to 1.17 -

I have a 6615WD, it gets pretty windy during gaming sessions.
Like yestoday playing the WoW expansion all day without a pause.
BUT, like said in an ealier post, there are stages of operation, that has different fan speeds.
Im not sure how your fan is acting.
If you start windows and the fan is alsmost silent, but quickly spins up to maximum speed, even when the computer is idle. Then
1. you might have dust in the cooling system, and you can try to blow it out with a can of compressed air. (In worst case, it needs to be sent to Zepto for cleaning)
2. you have an application/service that hogs your cpu. (check your task manager to see if this is happening)
3. Your cooling system is defective, and you need Zepto to fix it.
However, if your fan is silent to start with, and after a little use begins to spin up and down, depending on how much you stress your system.
Then your laptop is working fine, you are just whining and should consider getting a less powerfull laptop. -
Max temp (while exiting BF2) was 74º, but in a matter of minutes it lowered to 49º

Hi all,
Just updated my shiny new 6314W to BIOS 117 and the dreaded brightness bug is back :-(
I also get corrupted characters on the IDE settings page for the HDD and DVD drive.
Other than that everything seems OK though...

Hey guys.
So i just burn the bios onto cd and boot with it right ?
Do you guys recommend using the new 1.17 or should I stay with 1.15? I'm planning on installing Vista this weekend and I'd prefer to have a stable and reliable bios.
Btw, any known driver problems with vista and the 6214 ? Asdfasdf or anyone else. Same question with day to day software.
(I really can't have my only computer out of use) -
I'm with 1.17 and I can't notice any differences. I never had shut downs during gaming (rare 81°C peaks) and the system was stable since day one. Vista worked fine with 1.15 and it still works fine with 1.17 (video drivers from laptopvideo2go, card reader not yet installed but I'm sure it will work too).

For those who are unfamiliar with updating your BIOS: before you start messing with your BIOS, make sure you know what you're doing. You can cause some serious problems if you don't flash it properly.
Also, I generally stick to the old addage, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Just a general warning... -
I've done it before but not on a notebook, and it was an ASUS mobo with a little program that didn't require a boot disk or other.
Can someone walk me thru it???
Do I need to make a boot disk or just boot cd and what do I need to put on it ??
If it's not necessary for me to flash the bios to have vista work properly i can always leave it like that. But I don't know if it's the case.... -
To upgrade the BIOS follow these steps.
1. Download the .ISO file containing the new BIOS from ftp.zepto.dk
2. Burn the file to a CD-r using the "burn image to disc" in Nero, ore using a similar funktion in another burning program
3. Reboot the computer with the CD in, and make sure the computer is set to boot from CD (6214W shult do that by default BIOS settigs)
4. A blue screen will be shown with the "Phenix flash utility". When the flashing is done a green box will tell you is't done and that the computer will restart itself.
5. The computer restarts. Eject the CD, and the computer will boot into windows as normaly. DONE! -
to add.. zepto recomends you reset your bios to default settings before flashing a new bios... its just good practice
-
Right now , cpu @ 41º and fan working and working and working grrr... i know 6214w is a gamming machine but at this temperature i think this isn't normal!
New BIOS z1.17 out for 6214W
