yes, all those buttons work for me too. the only button that does not work for me is fn+f1 but it could be a linux related issue.

Using anything newer then the 116B release the only video driver (I've tried about 20 versions) that will boot into a gui is the stock 84.72 (I think that is the stock driver, I'm not home to check).

I've tried using a clean windows install to test it.. same issue. Also tried about 6 different linux LiveCD's/DVD's to see what I can find out.. Same thing.. only 'NV' driver works on anything newer then 116B.

My guess is that I've got some funky hardware revision's inside the machine, maybe just the video card revision. I don't really care that much, 116B is a good BIOS either way.

I have been on the fence as to whether I should up my BIOS version from 1.14 with my HGL30. However, seeing as the monkeys (aka software engineers) at Compal never fully test their 'updates' (or else they would be bug free), I must say my respect for the Compal brand has dropped a wee bit. How about some better QA Compal? I can't imagine other companies like Intel being this careless.

I thought the BIOS flashing process was specifically for the BIOS chip, not to update firmware for the video card/ other component. I would have figured the Video cards' software was 'hard coded' into it. Or failing that, that drivers would update the video card, not a BIOS update. Maybe the elevated temps damaged the temperature probes in your laptop?

I guess one definitive way to determine whether your temp levels are accurate would be to get a thermometer to the GPU.

Trying it out... seems the fingerprint is still weird for me; And the cpu temperatures have lowered conciderably although I see a lot more fan work. Running on battery now and cpus seem at 40C and 44C, and the fan is running constant. RI-DI-CU-LOUS. :) Had not had that with 1.21, which I think I'll be switching back to sometime soon.

Anyone else have comments on 122b ? I was thinking of upgrading from 114, but right now it seems like 121b is the better choice.

116b worked well for me. All subsequent versions make my custom button no. 2 inoperable. As mentioned, the fan works more with 122b than with 121b. Who knows if there's a good reason for this?

One of the reasons I update the BIOS is an attempt to stop the ACPIEC Event 1 errors that appear in the System Event Log. I thought for awhile that with 122b these have finally gone, but I see that there is one incident with three successive occurrences of this error.

Other than the above, I don't see any differences between any of the BIOSs 116b-122b. Note that I'm running XP, not ****sa.
