I am going to be purchasing my P1 MX pretty soon, and I was wondering if there was something I should do right out of the box. This is my first notebook after a long time (Win 98). I was just curious because my car had a "Break In" Period of XXXX amount of miles, and I was wondering if the same goes for this. I heard something about "Battery Conditioning" too. Thanks,

No, I asked the same thing, there is no battery conditioning needed, due to the battery elements. Since you ordered off Portableone, they do the breakin period for you, so when you get your notebook its good to go. And that is one of the several reasons why they are so awesome, because not only do they break in the computer, they also check and make sure everything is running before hand before shipping.

awesome. I was just asking because i don't think my friend conditioned his, because his meter jumps around, and his life is 3/4 what it should be.

is battery conditioning when you charge it up all the way before using the comp? cause i was surprised when the manual didn't say anything about doing that.

It's where the first three or so times you use the battery you full discharge and full charge.

Older battery technology also needed a full discharge/charge once every couple of weeks, but lithium ion doesn't require this.

Its called calibration. every 30 charge/discharges, you should do a calibation (charge battery fully, then discharge full). This ensures the battery gauge to give a more accurate reading
