Zepto will soon release new 14", 15,4" and 17" models. The two 15,4" models will look like this:

http://www.zeptoforum.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/noxa15.jpg
I assume it's the exact same model only with different color and name. Nox means black and mythos means speech or discussion so it could be that the black one is the gaming version.
-
looks pretty good!
-
I thought Mythos was a Greek beer. Is there something they're trying to tell us?
-
It's also the name of a soon to be released game by Flagship Studios -
ASk Chaz to put this in News bits
-
It says:
New P-Series CPU up to 2x2.8GHz
Nvidia 9600 GT with 512MB DDR3 (core 600mhz ram 1600mhz)
Up to 8GB RAM
Optional TV-Tuner and Turbo Memory
2MP Webcam
1.3 HDMI port
Fingerprint scanner
6 USB ports and firewire
Also says that they will have an illuminated Zepto logo on the back of the laptop a la Macbook pro.
Also has a night LED mode, where all LEDs are turned off. Used for watching Movies in dark environment where the LEDs might disturb. -
Any information on the 17"
it would be nice whit i bit stonger GPU 8800 ore 9800 -
Don't count on the 8800 series, they are to 'old' ;-)
I'm allowed to test the new Zepto's *HELL YEAH*
But now I have to wait till the first review-example is coming...
They say it will be in the Netherlands about the 10th of July -
Well i can live whit the 9800
-
I bet they will abadon Inventec as the primary ODM. From so many users, all the Inventec machines have done is create problems.
Nick -
as far as i can understand these new 15.4" machines are designed by Zepto completely from the ground, both design wise and feature wise. They've only had a external manufacturer to actually manufacturer and produce the actual machines for them. Atleast thats what i've heard, but we'll see when they actually release

One of the Zepto staff confirmed in another thread that the new models won't be from Inventec.
I also understand that Zepto are having a greater involvement in the design of the new models.

*looks at 6625WD's bulging left speaker*
-
They do look like Compal's?
What on earth do you mean about your speaker???
Nick -
They do look a little like Compals, but i've had it confirmed that they have been designed by Zepto from ground up.
-
Out of interest, how did you get it confirmed? Also will there be any more new notebooks coming out?
Thank you.
Nick -
Looks clean and nice. Good move from them..
-
Let's hope Zepto improves on the build-quality and availability of their notebooks.
-
this was back when i first received my 6625WD, apparently it's bulging for someone else as well so I had thought it must've been the case for all 6625WD owners.
http://img211.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img3939ho9.jpg
i have this urge to disassemble this and fix it if i know it can be done...(ie, no crazy wirings underneath that bulge..) -
any word if the screen will be LED backlit?
-
X40Nick i called them up and said i had read about the new black and white models and they confirmed they are Zepto designed from ground up. But basically thats all they can tell about it before its actually launched.
-
Thank you kind sir! Big move from them designing, manufactoring, and supporting their own notebooks!
They must however be using the same suppliers as Compal as they look really similar!
Nick -
X40Nick, i asked them the same, but they told me it is not the same supplier as Compal, but they are not allowed to comment on which supplier it is.
-
Once, again thank you!
I hope they release a new 14" laptop!!!
Interesting though...

The Notus A12 is made by Mitac. I wouldn't be surprised if Zepto were doing more business with them.
John -
That's what I thought! It would be really hard for a company to suddenly start making their own laptops? I would of thought they would choose a ODM? Why are they changing their model?
Possibly Clevo will come into the picutre? Or Uniwill?
Nick. -
First they come with this 2 new 15,4 inchers...
And after that we will see the 17" and 14" models
And there will come even better 15,4" models(Think about the GPU
)
-
-
Anybody got any inkling of the prices for a specs. I am hoping that zepto can release a budget 8800 gts laptop like in the states
-
It's quite compact, I think it will need to be a bit thicker to fit the 8800m.
-
Hi guys. Re the new models we are all sworn to secrecy but as it is getting very close, just hang in there.
What I really wanted to address is the design and manufacturing issue.
The new Zepto's are designed by Zepto but built by 3rd parties, just like almost everybody elses.
Nobody, with the exception of Lenovo, Asus and Acer (sorry if I have forgotten one) manufacture their own notebooks, not even Dell and HP. They are almost all made in China or Taiwan by contract manufacturers such as Compal etc. -
I would think they're all ODM anyway...
suppliers give them some options to mix and match a few functionalities, and they do the.. "choosing" part. -
Lenovo

Acer

What about Samsung?
John -
I know at least some of the Samsung notebooks are made by Asus.
-
Well I wish you were right, but you are not.
Lenovo definately make their own, but maybe not all of them, and Acer make more and more of their own, they are actually growing very fast.
You will probbaly find that they will outsource one range and make another themselves. -
I always thought all the brands either re-badged a ODM laptop, or worked with a ODM to create a notebook.
Lenovo & Acer make their own notebooks from ground up??? I saw a picture of ECS making Acer computers???
When you mean 3rd parties? Do you mean that Zepto worked with a ODM to create a notebook?
But can't wait! I did order a 6024w but then I found out new models were coming, and slightly the Inventec problems, made me wait for the new models!
Nick. -
-
Doesn't MSI make their own notebooks?
-
OMG!
They've made a cool trailer for the Nox
http://youtube.com/watch?v=WCLnUq11tQU
and it's also online on the danish website for pre-order:
http://zepto.dk/Shop/Notebook.aspx?notebookid=1079
The trailer is also available in HD on the zepto site:
http://banners.zepto.com/Trailers/Nox/index.html -
Nice trailer. Though it should state the technical specs, even if only briefly. Looking at Zepto's website the NoxA15 has a 9600mGT 512mb ddr3 and a P8400 processor as standard. Surely that would help sell more of them.
Zepto, can I have one in exchange for my 6324W? (no extra cost to me obviously-a base model Nox A15 comes in at roughly the same as what I paid last october). -
Hmmm, no DDR3? Or was I incorrect in assuming Montevina was supposed to support DDR3?
-
Hmmm...
From Wikipedia:
Mobile chipset an Intel Mobile 4 Express series chipset (code-named Cantiga; GL40, GS45, GM45, GM47 or PM45) with Intel's GMA X4500 graphics technology and ICH9M southbridge, 1066 MT/s front side bus. The graphics core GM45/47 is expected to be clocked at 533/640MHz which will contain ten unified shaders, up from the eight provided by GMA X3100.
* RAM support for DDR2-667, DDR2-800, DDR3-800, DDR3-1066 and DDR3-1333 SO-DIMM.[7].
and also where is my Intel 5100/5300 card?! -
Montevina does indeed support DDR3, but also suppots DDR2 RAM, but DDR3 for laptops are very expensive, so a good choice would be a montevina laptop with DDR2 RAM to keep the cost on the system down.
The Intel WLAN card is delayed because of problems with the wireless controller for the cards, that's also why the whole Montevina platform has been delayed from may to july/august.
At least that's what i've read by finding information on the web about the Montevina. -
Very glad that Zepto are doing such a thing. I am impressed by the looks of it. I am also happy that zepto have designed the laptop themselves.
I was very impressed with the warranty regards the white dots of the screen. -
I also hope that there will be more reviews and unboxing(s) of Zepto products on websites such as youtube.
-
But it´s an 18 day wait for it to arrive. There are some hardware out of stock.
Main thing is the cpu´s thats´all out of stock!
And one thing that makes me angry, is that the bragging of Blu-ray as option in the trailer. It´s not even an option yet! That sucks! -
Whiejaaaaa I'm getting one in a couple of days...
To test, to test... But I want a white one.. so not a NOX for myself!
I can't wait! Whiejaaaaaaaa -
It looks great! Also when does anyone think the new 14.1" laptops will be launched?
Also, when configuring some components say (example) 320GB HD for Nox/Orion
Is the white model going to be called Orion?
Can't wait!!! Hopefully in September I will buy one!!!
Nick.
New models soon to come!
