interesting, i have been running them for a bit now, and they seem to authenticate faster (with the LEAP protocol anyway)

Well i've been running these for a few days now and it seems that I get a touch better connectivity and more stability. Although I do wish that it would auto detect my home network and connect to it without me having to enter the SSID and WEP...[V]

i found one weird thing, it the utility says there is a wep error, but i am connected to the network and able to surf, wierd. The one thing that would be nice, is password encryption (in the utility), and auto select.

    DamnageD,

I'm sure you tried this, but my computer autodetects my home network and I don't have to type in my WEP. I'm not broadcasting my SSID, either. Click on the R on the systray, then on profile, then click add, enter in all relevent data including ssid and WEP settings on the authentication and security tab and save the new profile. Then highlight it and hit activate. It should auto-login from there. I have three different profiles saved for the three places I surf most often. When I go to a new place, I just activate that profile, and the SSID and WEP settings are loaded off the profile for me. But, I'm guessing you tried all of that.

Im pretty sure that DamnageD and I are thinking the same thing (i think). For auto select/detect, we want auto PROFILE select. SO that we don't have to manually select what profile is being used.

    Am I geting reputation???

    [ :D]

I have accually tried these things and am seeing that the Ralink app seems to be a bit buggier that last release. I am getting the WEP error, along with the profiles not alwasy auto lauching....or chosing a network and having to enter the SSID and WEP (again!?!)even the profile is loaded and selected. It's looking like the app is not quite we are used to if ya allowed Microsofts tool do all the work...it WOULD recongnize and auto connect, insted of having to choose.

The connections are somewhat stronger and stabler, but i think Ralink fixed onr thing and broke another. I'm gonna play with this some more when I have time, but I tempted to accept the extra steps required to have a bit better connection.

Yeah I also get the WEP error and can stil connect and surf the internet. As for hte auto connect thing, I just switched back to the windows wireless zero utility and that seems to work just great now. No need to go into the ralink utility and select the profile.

The thing for me is that windows doesn't seem to support the LEAP protocol, so i need to use the ralink utility. Does anyone know how to get windows to use LEAP?

Is there any way to get back the old Prefered Networks configuration after the upgrade? I've tried the overlay (not remove first) install method and that doesn't work.
