Funny, all the problems I was having with my 6120-HS seem to have cleared up now the weather has gotton cooler. I had terrible hard drive problems during the summer in New York - something kept happening to it wherby a few weeks after a factory restore, it would slow down to a crawl for some reason. The only thing would fix it was another restore. I asked about this on many tech forums and with Averatec themselves, and nobody had any idea what the hell was going on.

Well since my last restore everything seems fine, no return to the problem. And boy, what a difference this cooler weather makes to the hard drive temperature - in the summer, it was so hot I avoided resting my hand on the top of the notebook. Now, it barely rises above "lukewarm". I never realized what a difference the ambient room temperature makes - during the summer heat, not even my Targus cooling mat was enough. I guess I learned my lesson - A/C next year.

Doesn't that notebook have a Pentium 4 processor? Notebooks with that processor get extremely hot, sometimes to the point of damaging the components especailly if the weather is hot as well.
