I have a AV1050 here that about every 5 to 10 minutes starts up the fan. The fan makes a sort of howling noise. the sound is not stable, changes in frequency.

Anyone know more about this? is it common?

I've tried with NHC to toggle the cpu down but it does not help.

Anyone know of how to let the fan switch on less?

I tried SpeedFan but it does not work.

I use NHC to toggle down to 600 mhz, it works, but fan still comes on every ten minutes.

try rmclock to slow down the cpu when you don't want the fan.
