OK, so the Nokia Booklet 3G was officially released today. Pricing is $299 with a 2 year ATT contract or $600 without. $600 is way too much for this Netbook, although I have a couple questions.
#1. Can I buy without the subsidy and use a pre-existing ATT SIM with unlimited data?
#2. If not #1, can I add the $30 "tethering" plan to my account in order to use this netbook with my existing SIM?
#3. Or is the only way to use the 3G capability of this Netbook to sign up for a new $60/month ATT contract?
Also, anyone try the GPS yet?
Thanks.

The only way you are going to get the Booklet for the new contract price is by opening a new contract with AT&T. There may be other discounts available for currect customers but I have not heard of any come down the pipeline. Note that AT&T sells the Acer Aspire One, Lenovo S10-2, and Dell Mini 10 for the same price with contract. Radio Shack also has it own version of the Acer Aspire One which from time to time they put on sell for $99 with 2year commitment.
1. You cannot use the netbook on the AT&T wireless network without a LaptopConnect plan (I recommend no less that the 5Gb a month $60 plan, the others are to easy to go over the limit with). You can get around having a laptopconnect or tethering plan but that is technically illegal and a breech of contract so we will not discuss it.
2. You can add the tethering package to your existing sim card (Or if this is a spare the Laptop Connect Plan) and use that inside the laptop. Again I recommend the 5Gb a month package.
3. Tne only way you get the best capability is with the plan. The access point used for the Laptop Connect and Tethering plans enables the highest possible speeds on the AT&T Network up to 7.2Mbps in a few markets but for the most part just on par with DSL. By contrast the regular access point used for the regular phones is about 1.7mbps. Note that as of now all the major U.S. carriers are limited to 5Gb of data for their highest plan. -
