Hi all,
I recently, well today, tried to update driver version 186.03 to 197.16, installation went smoothly and I did have the impression that flash applications work considerably faster, flash is really slow on my Nox. However, the 197.16 driver interfered with the brightness control of my laptop, that is 100% brightness was quite dark and the function brightness+ did not work anymore, toggling brightness down went in steps from 100% to 71% then 40something%. Kind of strange, so I reverted back to 186.03 and everything is fine again but in the end I would like to keep the drivers up to date. Any clues, any experience out there?
cheers
Marc

good, I mean bad, that I am not alone, and that this is not solely related to Zepto laptops. I tried the 257.15 beta release, unfortunately the brightness issues are still persistent.
-
Its so annoying.. Good thing i dont really use my laptop for gaming anymore, because those September 09 drivers are growing old.
Its not only Zeptos tho. -
anyone has tested the latest nVidia 257.21 WHQL drivers?
-
Just updated to 257.21 from 257.15. For me, brightness hotkeys work for both drivers. Be sure to download the latest OSD from zepto drivers site... cheers.
-
Well, you do have another video card.
The OSD has nothing to do with this. -
myDooM, the OSD has everything to do with controlling the brightness on the Nox/G15/G14 series
The manufacturer of the model had to make a new OSD for Windows 7, because the brightness functions had changed so the old software didn't work. The problems with the old version for Vista was, that the brightness was only at half power when turned up to 100 % (according to the software). This was fixed in the new version. So yes the software has a lot to say -
I'm using the lastest 1.21 version of OSD by Zepto (ZeptoMobileUtilities) and the brightness issue's still present with the new nVidia drivers...

@pippo99, the nVidia 257.21 WHQL drivers don't fix the problem
@ReneSDK, the latest Zepto Mobile Utilities I found for Vista are v0.961, are those the latest? and if not do you have a link pointing there? -
macrsc:
Zepto Mobile Utilities v1.21 for Windows 7 32bit:
ZeptoMobileUtilities 1.21 32bit
Zepto Mobile Utilities v1.21 for Windows 7 64bit:
ZeptoMobileUtilities 1.21 64bit
(works for all Nox, Mythos, Orion, Anthea, G14, G15 and shoudl work for Vista also) -
ReneSDK, those Win7 Utilities work with Vista but do not fix the problem.
-
Then I guess you are out of luck
-
Well it's not only Zepto models having this issue..
-
Well i was running the 257.xx driver on my stationary until I reallized the fan on my 9800GT card didn't spin up as it used to. I went back to the 197.xx drivers again for normal fan operation.
-
I had this issue just when I want to play BC2.
I have artifacts in the original drivers but when I try going to latest driver, the LCD brightness just dimmed. -
Having not used my laptop the entire summer (not even having windows installed) i decided to reinstall today. I tried out nvidia's newest drivers (258.96), and this issue appears to be fixed!
-
Yeap. Tried that and it works! No issue with BF:BC2 .

Win 7, 32-bit, g15, 9600m gs user here. Any1 knows what I'm supposed to do in order to install the newest drivers? Standard info about not proper hardware + the setup will now exit message appears on my screen.
Now, I've read somwhere that I've got change some kind of files, but I don't know where to get them? What can I do? What should I download and where? For the time being I don't have any drivers installed as I'm not able to. Tried quite a few versions of them problem stays the same. -
Go to this website to get vid drivers:
Drivers | drivers for mobile cards and laptops | laptopvideo2go.com
They provide the modded "nv_disp.inf" file for laptop install. -
Ehm, go to nvidia.com....
-
Well, I've tried both of them and message "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit." still remains. Any ideas?
-
Yeah remember to use the 9M-series drivers (mobiles), and not the 9-series driver (desktop). That normally fixes that problem.
-
Desktop drivers without modification won't install. The modded file I mentioned earlier takes care of this problem. This file and the vid driver are a matched set. You simply download both files, unpack the driver and replace the existing "nv_disp.inf" with the modded version.

258.96 solved LCD brightness problem for my Nexux 9650m GT.
-
@ReneSDK
Yup, I used 258.96_notebook_winvista_win7_32bit_international_whql, but that didn't fix the problem.
@DaveVelo
Yeaaaah! I did it and drivers are finally installed, I'm just gonna test everything and see how it goes. The actual name of the file I was supposed to change was 'nvac.inf' I guess, that's how I made 'em to work anyway.
Thank you guys for your help and time. -

It's weird how nvidia don't seem to support HIS gpu :\
-
Is it just me, or is the lowest brightness, brighter than before? To me, it doesn't seem to go very far down from full brightness to low.
-
same here, my OSD shows that Fn-F4/F5 changes the brightness in steps of ~15% now instead of 10%. I prefer this bug though
-
Doesn't really bother me either... Battery diffrence cant be that big either...
