Ok firstly im posting this from my phone so excuse any mistakes.

So basically about 2 hours ago my laptop shut down, not instantly like a power cut but over about 2 or 3 seconds. I tried to turn it back on but since then it just hangs at the ' nox - a world of performance' screen. F2 and F12 dont do anything but ctrl+alt+del do work with restarting the laptop.

Any ideas what the problem could be and if its fixable or is it gonna have to be returned.

Iv tried startin the laptop with bits taken out, hard drive, ram etc and this hasnt made a difference.

    Thanks in advance

Have you tried this; remove the battery and then, without the power cord attached, press the on/off button a couple of times (hold the button down for 4-5 seconds).
Then insert the battery again, attach the power cord and start up the notebook.

That's usually caused by a malfunction in either the PSU or the motherboard.. I'm afraid you'll have to send it in for repairs.

I had completely forgotton that I'd posted here so I will update on what happened with my RMA. I took the laptop to a local repair shop who tested all the removable parts and they were all fine so i knew it had to be sent back.

I set up the RMA, UPS came to collect within a couple of days, took 3 working days to get to Denmark and I got an email saying the status of my RMA had changed, saying it had now arrived. About 3 hours later i got an email from UPS saying my package was being returned now so they fixed the laptop the same day they got it and sent it off the same day aswell.

Got the laptop back a few days later. on the cover sheet it said ' Repairs: BIOS Updated'. As a side note after this the laptop ran so much cooler it was incredible. Anyway i emailed zepto to see if there was anything i could do to stop this happening again and i was told it was a complete fluke that it happened so no worries.

So the other day i go to turn on my laptop and the same thing happens, i have only just been able to set up the RMA today as for the last two weeks, no live chat, no reply to emails, phone number doesnt seem to work. anyway its set up now so we'll see how it goes.

My advice to you carli is to make sure they dont just update the bios, i was told they could replace the motherboard which is what im going for this time and i have made the guy who setup the rma specify this.

i will keep this thread updated on what happens

    Thanks for your reply.
My laptop arrived at zepto yesterday, so I will keep an eye out for what they are going to do with it, thanks for the advice :)

Will update on what happens when i know.

Checked mine a few minutes ago, it said "repaired" so i went to the live support and asked them what they had done with it. He didn't know exactly, but it was something called a J-Tag, had something to do with the bios. So I will have to hope that it doesn't happen again now. Will report when I get the laptop, if there are any other differences or something like that.

EDIT: "Repairs: computer bios updated." Seems that they have just updated the bios .. well I just have to hope that it resolves the problem for me and that it won't happen again.

haha, lucky for me I have a another computer to use while my laptop was in for repair.. but if it happens again when I get it back I will just do as you did, ask them for a motherboard replacement. Which seems like the only option if the problem persists.

Just got an e-mail from zepto - "Repairs: New motherboard installed. BIOS updated."

We'll see how long this one lasts.....

No-one seems to be able to tell me exactly what is causing this which is annoying.

To clarify my point, i must say that i do not defend Zepto in this post.

It's just that i've worked in laptop repairs (enough, quit a while ago) and it's not always so simple to fix them, not being shure if the problem comes back even if you change MB and other stuff... You usually have time limits to how long you can diagnose the problem, then order the required parts and finally to change them and test the computer.

The technicians are just people after all, like us. :)

Most of them are trying their best to fix your laptop (and make some living in the same time).

    Hey peeps,

    having the same problem here,
was that "stupid" to open the laptop tot backup the hdd and voided warranty.
had the laptop for about a month when it failed. now mailing over and over to convince that I did only touch the hdd for backup. probably have to pay myself for the repairs, which is so unfair
think this is MB issue too.

    anyone a good suggestion?
    Regards
