Well, I've noticed a complete lack of life - AKA Death - to this OCZ forum. Seems as though we've all migrated elsewhere..some to Asus, some to AW, but nothing new happening here. Guess that has its' pros and cons.. the OCZ rig must be solid with no problems left to troubleshoot.. or it's dying a slow painful death. Enough of the doom and gloom, let's have an OCZ Party to bring life back to this forum!
When?
Sunday evening, March 15th.. 7 P.M. Eastern, 6 P.M. Central Standard
Where?
Here
Drinks?
B.Y.O.B.
Am I invited?
Please RSVP below, as seating will be plentiful - Spread the word, and show some love for the OCZ Forum!.
 <--- kinda creepy, eh?
-
Well, I'm sure the fact that the supply died out for new units outside of AW and a few other places didn't help.
-
yeah doesnt help that ocz really ticked off a lot of people it seems.
-
Ok Mr. Doom & Gloom - don't go raining on the get together.
you either z -
Not trying to. Just pointing out that there were valid reasons for people to migrate.
Here's to you giving them a great reason to be back.
If you build it (beer kegs), they will come. -
free beer? I won't miss it!
-
*begins work on building beer kegs*
-
Technically, this section should be renamed Flextronics/Arima.
-
-
PM Chaz or create a thread in the suggestions area and see if they'll take you up on the idea.
-
I was really excited for the whitebook or whatever we're calling it these days. However, with all the drama and lack of news for the 4870, I've moved on to the Clevo section for news on the new D900F. Been looking for a new laptop for 5 months...STILL waiting!
-
Partys Are Where I'm At!!!
just bUY some thing!!! you'll always be waiting -
I shotgun bringing the food!
-
I was about to get a Whitebook, but before I made up my mind, it went out of manufacturing. Now watching W90 owners thread closely.
I have to settle down on something -

Party!!!!!!!
i'm in. i just cant bring the whitebook. but will the toshiba do? -
Who has freaking time to party....
*wipe, wipe, wipe, wipe, wipe..... -
Lol.. Nice
-
That's a subject to talk about....who can OCZ get to manufacture their next 17" SLi or Crossfire rig? They've got a 15" DIY from Compal and I don't think OCZ is completely bailing out of the notebook ring so it's worth some speculation. -
They'll need to find an OEM who provides better support, otherwise it will be more egg in their face. This really was a huge opportunity for them but they didn't seize the moment.
-
Has Compal or anyone other than Clevo released any new systems that would fit the bill for a new OCZ DIY?
-
That's the thing.. For them to logistically have the market share they need to be who releases it. They can't jump on the wagon after someone else. I still honestly think AW killed the OCZ. Flex gave them a window of opportunity to market and sell the rig, but AW has the marketing power/name recognition. AW came on the scene about a month after.. I believe Flex just had to make a business decision. Whether that was made under the cloak of "creating" issues between them and OCZ to kill a contract, or whatever the case may be. Anyhow, I'm just trying to say OCZ would need to be careful with whoever they partner with. Do it right, and do it well, and be the sole provider.
-
It's doubtful AW muscled Flex to put the kibosh on their dealings with OCZ, if that's what you're suggesting, since that would mean AW would object to Flex's attempts to find another distributor for the W840.
If, on the other hand, OCZ felt cheated that they weren't the sole distributors for the W840 in the U.S. because Flex let AW use the chassis then that's just petty on OCZ's part. Fact of the matter is AW has had the longer history using Flex/Arima chassis (m9700 series).
OCZ doesn't have the potential to be an ASUS or an MSI and manufacture/design their own machines....they're a Sager type company when it comes to notebooks. -
Agreed.. They were simply responsible for taking orders from resellers and handling the US distribution for Flex. I'm not saying AW muscled them out, but as I said.. Could have been Flex making the most profitable decision, and not necessairly going about it the most customer oriented way. Maybe Flex pushed OCZ away on purpose? Anyhow, just a thought.. Enought OT, let's hope things turn around for everyone

I'm just hoping for support from ocz. (bios, driver updates, etc.) i really hope they dont leave us out in the dust.
btw e-wrecked. our avitars looks alike. Lol. -
Hmm. Best of luck with that one. Not sure they'd be capable since there's no one funding it - Flex or Customers
Mine is mo' special, btw -

I have about 5 dollars in my pocket right now i could help them with.
i'm going to fix mines up so my will look for better -
ocz will continue support till the warranties are up on the systems they sold and dont forget you have the EXACT same system as the aw. so if they end up with a oc bios then just flash it to yours it will work exactly the same as it does now using the ocz bios on the aw units -

what about the upgrades to the 4870? will ocz sell the cards? how am I supposed to buy those? What if my vendor doesn't sell them? can I buy them through ocz?
-

i used to like going in this section(OCZ) because i knew that every thread had to do with the ocz. and the only people that checked the thread was people with the ocz, alienware M17, or wanted to buy one. but now it's just empty.
-
I miss the good ol' days too ;(

Well i'm here, i have some questions
i tried your overclocking for the gpu but it didnt work. i tried 9.1 and 9.2. i have windows 7 x64. and when i tried 8.12 i blue screened every time.
if there any other tools you recommend. i tried ati tray tools. but it didnt work because of a driver issue.
what temps did you have from your whitebook when it was overclock?
what stable clocks did you have your gpu's?
right now i cant do anything because i dont have a cpu.(qx9300 coming thursday or friday.) -
gotta drop back to 8.10 or earlier to OC the GPU. My temps would hit mid 80s on GPU when highly overclocked. Depends on whether you are using DX9 or DX10. DX10 seemed to clock higher. 718/918 was working with DX10.. gotta back down a bit with DX9.

Lol
thanks alot. ok do you know if 8.10 will work on win7 x64. i'll see if i can keep my clocks at 710/910.
if my score doesnt beat yours, then........... -
it will work fine.
-
yep e is right to overclock 8.10 is all you got.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Is there a file that allows you to overclock that i can just switch with another driver. sorry i just dont know how to mod drivers. i tried to mod the name of the ati's to say 3870 instead of 3870x2 but only one worked and the other stayed the same. Lol.
-
party wasn't good
i woke up next to some one i didnt know -
-
LOL.. Quality reply.
-
thats just not right.......
-
Man sorry to hear that they stopped pushing these laptops out. Is a really nicely built machine. I had to pass my own and the guy who owns it loves it. I am pretty happy with my Precision M6400 right now.
-
BTW, Precision M6400 is the coolest workstation notebook I've ever seen (friend got one). It's pretty thin too! -
Gotta +1 that...Precision M6400 is definitely my favorite notebook for looks.
