whoa! who ever score that was....he/she set it to private...

 

Anyone here with an X9100 or a QX9300 have GTA IV? I want to see if CPU has a significant effect on how the game runs. I bought a copy and I will try it out when I get home.

 

That 17.3 score is because of the CPU score. With the new bios update you can clock it to 3.5ghz altough futuremark says 2,5ghz. Let me see if I can get close. So far I am at 15.8 without gpu oc and cpu at 3.0ghz.

 

ask that guy to run it ichime. seems his qx9300 is doing 3.6 ghz and his other score i didn't get was doing 4.1 ghz

his higher cpu score netted a lower over all score from what i saw... it was 4125 or 4150 ghz at 16.9 and it looked like he dropped back down to 3650 ghz and netted a 17.4

 

That's insane for a quad core notebook. Now I'm very tempted to go purchase a QX9300, but apparently the guy who won my Alienware hasn't paid me yet

 

two things ichime:

1: yep, im very impressed with his cpu over clock to say the least!
2: if your a new seller, and he paid using pay pal. then he will need to leave feed back before you can collect your money. (this is if your at this stage)

 

That CPU score is insane. . Looks like all 4 cores are working, eh john? You know exactly who's score that is. So do I. And what is wrong with those gpu clocks? Awfully low..

 

nah, i don't think it's him. (speculation of course) but look at his 2.0 & 3.0 scores. they are inline with where they are suppose to be. not like that guy that got the 16.8 with a 9200 sm 3.0 score.

 

That's the reason I say that. Those c++ coders did a great job

man, i wish i would have snapped a pic of that 4.1 ghz clock he had.
the only reason why i got one of his 3.6 ghz clock was because i went back in my browser cache folder once i seen he removed it from orb....lol

 

In my case, it's actually the opposite: I sold a couple of things on ebay previously, and he seems to be new to this ebay thing (he has no feedback at all).

 

then his payment needs to clear first. and if he paid with a bank account or echeck....it will take a while to clear. bank accounts can take a few days. credit cards are instant pay pal cash is instant and echeck...like 15 days or more...but im probably sure you have heard all this. seeing you have sold a few items already.....

 

That's true, but my auction was paypal only. I'm just anxious now because I want to pay off as many bills as possible soon to better assess what I can purchase for Xmas and stuff. I usually give people seven days after the auction ends, but I had only one instance where I had ebay send a payment notice after 10 days elapsed with no payment.

In terms of upgrading my notebook, I think I'll probably wait till next year though I'm very tempted to get the QX9300 now. I'll probably buy the QX (by then it would be cheaper), the GPU upgrades (if they come out and show significant improvements) and a pair of SSDs in bulk rather than bit by bit.

 

you already know them cpus are not coming down in price. well the oem x9100/qx9300/x9000 aren't.lol. oem's are still 850 and up.

probably best to just hold out for now. that way you catch the better technology at a better price...

well, if i didn't know ali any better, i would think his kid hit him in the head with one of them extra laptops he has.*LOL* but ichime...im pretty sure ali will beat any deal out there. and since it still retails for 850 to 1k and is not an "es"(speculation) you would be in good hands.

 

Well I have couple of x9100s which I can put in ust let me know if you want it and I will put it on ebay. You can also save %15 by suing ms cashback which gets the price of the CPU down to $650.

 

what price could you give me for a x9100?

Got the P8400 to 2.4 stable temps

low temps there Mike.. very nice. The only thing that is holding my rig back is the RAM. Got 1066, need 1333

 

Wait the Whitebook/M17 can use 1333 DDR3 Ram?

 

Up to 2.5 almost same temps.

 

Just did a restart but it went back to 2.26Ghz any ideas do I have to save the settings or something

 

I tried to flash the Bios I did the two folders as you said botted the USB drive I put in p.bat and k.bat but nothing

I just did the KBC flash it says the code in unsuited for this system

Mike, that's ok..another M17 owner had the same thing. Don't sweat it. The BIOS is installed now, yes?

EDIT: I added the KBC compatability to the OP. It will not update, as it's not compatible. BIOS is 100% compatible. Also, added the 8.12 Beta link to OP. Unfortunately 8.12 doesn't allow GPU overclocking either. Seems as though 8.10 is the last version to allow it. Hopefully the 8.12 Final will support GPU OC'ing.

After I flashed the BIOS my CPU speed changed dramatically. Before the flash, the CPU was running at 2.5GHZ at 11.5 multiplier. And 12.5 was taking me to 2.8ghz. Now after the flash, 8.5 is giving me 2.5ghz and I still can choose 9.5, 10.5, 11.5 and 12.5. 12.5 give me 3.33ghz now but I get a BSOD before Windows loads. But the computer runs without an issue at 11.5 which is 3.0GHZ and my max temp for that clock is 83C. Do you now how to get this thing work at 3.33ghz?

 

83C seems a bit hot?
is it safe running at that temp for long periods of time?

 

RobM from RKcomputers was able to get it to 3.33ghz, he may give you a hand...

 

Did you also flash the KBC? I've seen somewhere that it can have issues running full throttle balls to the wall. Then again, john found someone that 3dmark shows hit 3.7GHz or so. What does the BSOD say? Internal_Power_Error? I have another BIOS you can flash and give it a try.. it's the .26 version, which also supports the quad-core up to 12.5 & all the juice.

and he also has a run at 4.1 ghz.

 

There ya have it.. with proper RAM and XMP, and Intel XTU, and a real BIOS you can hit 4.1 Actually john, I've had SetFSB saying some off things to me.. It said I was running @ 3.8 GHz the other night. I was at 3.4 tho, realistically. I think I may have submitted that run somewhere. I'll look and see if I can find it.

 

Ok..found it.. this is the score I told you about john..the GPU is majorly high, compared to when I OC the BIOS then the GPU drops considerably. But, CPU stays about the same regardless of the BIOS. This score is @ 11.5 BIOS multiplier, and a slight FSB pump.



Then, this is me OC'ing the CPU @ 3.3GHz plus FSB pump.. and a slight OC on the GPUs.


And this is just 3.3GHz and FSB pump - no GPU OC

great find E!! so that explains his 4.1 ghz clock i seen. but his score is still legit as far as i can see. his sm 3.0 score is not in the outer limits of space and time...*LOL*

so...if i we're to guess...he is not using the same pll you guys are using. and his gpu's are probably stock and not over clocked.... (speculation of course)

 

My CPU is @ 4.1GHz in the first pic, and for some reason it got whack high scores. But, it was running @ 3.06GHz and a lil SetFSB pump! Then, I OC via BIOS and everything drops.

 

that guys 4.1 was lower that his 3.6 as well. still, it was 16.9

 

having trouble flashing the bios on my m17 can you guys tell me what is the best iso i mage to use to boot up in ms dos. i have tried every ms dos bootable cd imagae and using magic iso i add a directory in the cd main dir of the bios flash but the directory will not show up when i try to find the p.bat

 

follow the guide in my sig but use the ocz bios file instead of the sager ones

mastershake if i use your meathod can i use the p.bat file which is in this tutorial to write my flash instead of the utility on your tut ?

 

all you need to do is follow the first two steps.. forget the sager bios just use the boot utility and the dos files. then copy the ocz bios to it and reboot and run it
