OCZ/Rebrands/M17 Overclocking Guide - CPU & GPU

Ok I have buy my cpu Q9200 for 265 USD it a good price you think for that ?

 

That's a pretty good price. I paid $280 for mine before they were popular. Which revision did you get? QAVS?

As far as I know, I was the first one to install into an M17/Whitebook.

 

I've gotten 3.06 with multiplier alone.

It ran everything just fine, but would occasionally blue screen when loading windows. After that, everything ran 100%.

 

nice. you need to throw up some benchmarks.

Sorry, Im presuming the link at the beginning of the thread is to the older 0.27 BIOS et al; can anyone link me to the best place to get the latest OCZ bios which allow overclocking, and better control than the Alienware bios?

Are there any issues swapping between the OCZ bios and the latest AW BIOS, like a bios version check?

and you need Zfactors .28 modded OCZ bios .... its unlocked and has better voltage

 

Haha, couldn't care less about CC anyway; I dont really like that kinda stuff most of the time. The 0.28 modded was the one I was thinking of anyway; I've had a quick look round, and search turned up nothing so I've probably missed something obvious but wonder if anyone knew where it was hiding!

 

Sorry I know it not the good thread for that question, but I don't would start a new just for know that, can we put this thing in the M17 ?

If I'm not mistaken, yes, but I don't think it'll have the performance you'll be looking for. It will have to install in one of the 2 spots available (where the Wifi card and the TV card go).

Please Help After I flash.27 BIOS i got this massege saying that windows need to be activated when booting up windows, but after i flash M17 orginal Flash it the massege dissappeer.

Its because when you change BIOS your computer IDs slightly differently. When it asks for your windows key, just type in yours; it should be hidden inside the battery compartment, under the battery.
That said if your using the OCZ bios so you can overclock; and still have a Q9000, it won't help as you're not multiplier unlocked, which the X9100 and QX9300 are.

 

Alex is right but i don't know if the ocz bios will help your overclock because it has more voltage in it when using setfsb.

for the proceesor thing i forgat to change my signature, becuae i just got my QX9300 before two days through HP local vendor .

i have another issue, the KBC won't flash for my M17 i don't know why, it give an error massege saying " this .... is unsuitable for your system contact your manufacture. Any help plz

 

I wouldn't sweat about it. it's the same settings as the whitebook so there's no need to flash the keyboard.

it just lets the motherboard know what's what on the keyboard and the extra settings.
fn+x7 I believe is to turn up the lights. the bios tells it what it is. this is so you don't need to be in windows and have to install the drivers for it. so leave it alone.

Hey guys, did the reset button on the side of m17 reset the setting of the BIOS, which means that it will reset the clock of the processor after every overclocking session?

 

i believe so. i never used that button on my whitebook

 

Do you know where can I download the latest Overclock enabled BIOS ? I heard there's a 0.28 version but I can't find it anywhere in this forum, please help ? Thanks

one last question, I bought my M17 like 3 months ago, can I still use the guide here ? I'm just afraid that everything changes to the new M17 since the guides are kind of old.

 

yes you can. the onlything is that there is a better overclocking tool. i don't know what it is called though.

 

can I use the .28 BIOS file from the OCZ website ? or do I need the modded one from zfactor ? I pm'ed him and he did not reply me, please help...

ugh, I have a lot of reading to do.

 

that gpu overclocking tool is old. you can only overclock to 700/900 where as the new program you can do 735/1165 i believe. but i don't remember what it is called...
