OCZ Whitebook Benchmarks - Post 'em if ya got 'em! All rebrands may participate..

D900/01 C are very upgradable laptops. pretty much u can upgrade anything u want here. U could have bought D900 and still upgrade the mobo to support quad cores and 8800's. THe question of unreadability is how much do u want to pay for that!? at least sager gives u a choice.

 

Masta, is there a fallout 3 benchmark?

Here's the best I've pulled so far with the OCZ.. I think it has room to grow, but I know that physx is holding it back

Cool score. We scored almost the same on GPU Score in the Non-PhysX run, but your GPU Score beat mine by 3 points!

The link "mine" in my above post contains a comparative image, comparing the Non-PhysX run to the PhysX one:

Non-PhysX: P8397 3DMarks, 7,809 GPU Score and 10,809 CPU Score.
PhysX-Run: P9486 3DMarks, 7,844 GPU Score and 25,482 CPU Score. (I am actually impressed at how much can PhysX help the processor by taking the physics calculations away from it, and that the GPU Score actually increased instead of decreasing with PhysX.)

 

wow..no kiddin. Makes a world of a difference, eh? And Vantage wouldnt run for me til I installed physx, yet.. Even with it installed it doesn't make a difference - I cant enable it.

That's running which CPU?

 

If I had ordered the D901, I would have ordered it with everything that you can get right now (QX9650/SLI9800GTX/3-320HDD's). There has been no talk of it being upgradeable beyond that. Several forum members have actually speculated that it won't receive any updates past the current top config. That was the deciding factor for me, even though I don't trust ATI and the dual Xfire are down on the dual 9800's in actual gaming. I'm taking a chance that they actually get their driver support together in a timely fashion, and the mobility 4000 line comes out kicking butt. This is, however, ATI's last chance with me. Here's to hoping, though I will kick myself if the D901C ends up getting the next gen of nVidia cards and they actually get some more GPU power than what it has now.

physx makes no difference to gpu score.
i ran it in dual core mode and still scored 10,500 on gpu and 5,356 on cpu score. with no physx enabled.

physx is just to make things more realistic in games, not faster for the gpu, but for the cpu.

 

lol.. it bumped Aeris' score! LOL - Not a lot, but enough! Im gonna run to buy beer..when I get back Im breaking 8k. And, it makes a WORLD of difference with the CPU. PhysX installed, whether enabled or not, is night and day with CPU to CPU score. My x9100 hit 20k+ in the 7811FX

unfortunately now. But its not a very gpu demanding game. Anyway, with 180.48 driver just released from nvidia my min FPS for farcry2 in ranch_short want up to 44fps very nice

The minimum before was 36 Thats only on ranch_short I m gonna do ranch_long tomarrow cause that should bring my average fps a bit higher.

Why has to go back to old one when you have a new one? I saw ati 3870hd xfire lose to nvidia 9800gt/gtx sli in desktop that have a recently driver upgrade so it should be in the same way for moblie market. ATI lose to Nvidia in 3000 series but take back in 4000 series

seem to be every games because before I bought my laptop I've planned for upgrading my desktop (so I changed planned when I found whitebook). I found on every sites that 3870x2 or xfire lose to 9800gt/gtx sli. 9800gtx+ has managed to beat 4850 that 9800gtx+ has done its job pretty good (same performance) but 9800gtx has slightly lower performance than 4850. 4850 has significantly more performance than 3870 (10+fps in some games). if you compare 3 of these they were 4850>9800>3870. I don't make this result but I founded it from every websites such as anandtech,techpowerup,fudzilla (Its hard to find the tests because 9800 and 3870 have stayed in the market for along time)

 

this is to show that the cpu without physx, has no performance difference when running vantage mark. whether your score is 6k or 30k cpu...your gpu score stays the same

 

True. Strangely, in my case, the GPU Score bumped 35 points, not implying that it was the CPU that bumped the score, might have been merely situational, or PhysX.

 

lol..it was physx that bumped it. Right john? Aeris, john has been trying to convince me that PhysX wont affect the GPU score. I like to egg him on with it, cause I truly think PhysX does make a difference in the overall Vantage Run. The *overall* run, and it typically bumps GPU a few points, and skyjacks CPU.. But, as long as you don't have PhysX working..then your overall score is hindered.


BTW: I fresh installed Vista. Had too much crap from driver swapping, and it was not helping anything.. only hindering. I got some errands to run, but when I get back later I'll run some new benches. See if there's a difference overall.

because it has nothing to do with gpu score.. only cpu score
and you would have to run it quite a few times to see that it will very rarely give you the exact same number. you will always be with in persay 1 to 100 points good or bad. also depending on what processes & running task are going on at the time.

and if i had the dual ati system, physx would not be on my list of things to raise my gpu score. my over all score with raising my cpu score..yes.

if you take a look at the intel score i posted. you will see they scored a 10,360 with drivers of a lessor grade, but also running a quad. so something has to work.

we would need someone with a quad to run these test. even at 3.3 ghz on a quad..it should get like 9k. (speculation of course)

 

true.. 9k best case scenario. Unless it was my qx9300

hahahaha, was just looking at that one. nope, none there now...but they did have one like a week ago going for 500 or so. now remember that guy with the 7811 fx? he knew where to get one from. and he got it pretty quick.

 

yea.. BMW gave me a link. It's all in thai, and I couldnt get it to translate. He had several..but, they were about $750. I'd spend $500-600 max on an ES/QS

There was someone a couple months back selling an ES QX9300 on Ebay.. it was only $500 - shoulda snagged it then.

 

Well.. fresh vista install with stock drivers oulls a measily 6564 overall. CPU and GPU score are similar. LAME. Gonna now work on some tweaks and such. Hopefully 12k is right around the corner. Right john?

 

I m getting 11k in vantage so that almost 13k by John is an amazing score. I ve ordered some AS5. Hopefully its gonna get to me tomarrow so I can apply it over the weekend and give John some competition around here he s been pretty lonely for a while now, but thats gonna change.

And, john.. I emailed maggie and sent her the BIOS for the OCZ. Hope she can help me unlock some multipliers
