Today i played the Left 4 Dead demo. To my surprise, i was getting around 30fps when i was playing with max settings and 2xFSAA, and around 60fps when playing with 16xFSAA. This doesn't really make sense to me.

I'm creating this thread hoping that people will post optimum in game settings for the major pc games. I would post this in the games forum, but this thread is specific to this laptop. I also hope that someone creates a optimization thread, some tips and suggestions to keep this laptop running as smooth as possible.

I'm also currently playing Bioshock, and getting between 30-90fps with max settings. It fluctuates quite a bit.

The games i've listed here are all being played in native 1920x1200 resolution and my specs are listed in my sig.

    Thanks.

Fluctuations sounds more like microstuttering. Bad Drivers maybe, are you running Vista? I know my Vista has issues with SLI stuttering in some games, while XP runs smooth as butter. Try XP and dual boot with Vista.

Also what many people forget is to update their chipset drivers, these can have a big impact in stuttering etc etc. To have the latest drivers. Usually the laptop manufacturers doesn´t supply newer ones, for instance Intel updates theirs while Dell doesn´t.
