I have two hard drives because to get the discount you have to get a HDD from the build your laptop flash program they have...And boy was this thing cheap.
$1,333.05 With 2-Day shipping (really cheap actually, only 10 bucks.) I could have gotten an OS but I didn't see it necessary as I have an XP install disc here and I'd rather not get Vista at this point and when I do I'll get the 64 bit version. I have very high expectations for this notebook. I previously had a T61p for a VERY short while. I hated that thing like no other.
I purchased the T61p for about $1700 (after about 150-200 in taxes and shipping) And was very excited to get it, I customized it as a very fast machine, not as fast as this baby, but 2.2 ghz core 2 duo, had the ddr3 gfx card, 2gb ram, and all the other goodies (bluetooth, N, fingerprint reader.) This was supposed to be a darn good laptop. HAHA that was funny. I get it, spend forever looking through here on how to make the annoying pop up box of doom go away. I really don't need the computer to ask me if I am sure I want to run something I just clicked...And then on another note, the thing ran very freaking hot, People on the fourms said it is normal, but I dont know, it was running very hot. And on idle, in games it was even worse. I also had the 1GB of the turbo memory, don't know if that helped or made things worse. Anyways, whenever I would do anything that put the GPU, or CPU under strees, I would get a BSOD, or the system would freeze for a minute or two and then unfreeze itself. Yeah... Anyways after some other troubles, I ended up returning the thing... Hated the returns guy in India, had to pay a restocking fee for getting a broken laptop...
So after almost 2 months. I decided to get this. I will be sure to take lots of pictures. Does this lappy need to be reviewed? I would love to do so (assuming everything works out) How do you guys like your IFL90's?

mine is pretty sweet. really flies with xp. my screen could be a bit better, but i'm coming off a horrible experience with dell screens, so i'm probably a little extra choosy.
remember you have to disable AHCI in bios to see your hard drive in XP... you can slipstream the intel matrix storage manager (i didn't do it this way) or install it later (what i did) to get ahci functionality. some say ahci matters, some say it doesn't affect performance. didn't really notice a difference between ahci disabled/enabled...
i think you will like the machine. the keyboard is a bit bouncy up around f2-f4, but it doesn't bother me. it sure was satisfying to 'build' it myself, and a pretty good price too.
i had a problem with the proset/wireless. don't use the supplied driver. go to the intel site and download the driver only for your card and let windows connect. much smoother connection time.
what else, uh... ah! also, my driver for the touchpad from the cd they sent didn't work. i got it from xoticpc.com, works like a charm.
hope this advice helps you, sorry if you already know. woot! -
000111 When did you recieve your IFL-90 ? I have been waiting many weeks for my NP2090 from PNB because of the back order on the WSXGA+. It finally should ship out this week but I'm disapointed to see your not happy with this screen. I was hoping it would be a LG WSXGA+ but in one of your posts you stated it was another manufacturer that I never heard of. This is my first notebook and months of research brought me to these units because of the quality and outstanding reviews on the suppliers. I'm hoping this is not a down turn of the manufacturers cheaping out on parts and rushing to fill orders.
I ordered the WSXGA+ because it was the best and if I wanted mediocre I would have settled for the WXGA and saved $. Is the WSXGA+ really that sub-par ???
Thanks -
zip zoom fly has wsxga already in stock. they are barebones though

vctr I believe the screen quality is subject to everyone's own feeling. There's no definite great monitor but rarely people complain about compal's screen in sager and comapl section. My screen is LG Philips and I couldn't praise it more enough.

well. my 2090 is ok. i'm disappointed in- drumroll please- the screen. it is a cmo1520. not as bad as the sec3350 i saw on dell 1520s, but still grainy. sigh. other than that it's a pretty solid machine. i'm cursed to get the current worst screen of any manufacturer, i guess?
I never heard of cmo1520 I was hoping for the LG Phillips everyone raves about. -
Compal offer WSXGA+ screen in matte currently, no glossy. And the thing I notice right away the difference between matte and glossy is matte screen they have this tinny little grease to it, but it's special coating to prevent reflective lightning from outter source. Text and pictures are crisp and clear so I don't feel it's really a big issue.

cmo is chi mei. they are normally pretty nice screens. and imo one of the nucest svreens i have ever seen about a year ago was a chi mei. i know they do use some lg screens but they are usually for the glossy finishes. my mom will be coming over sometime this week for me to finish setting hers up with everything she wants, i know her screen was VERY nice, actually made me regret not getting the matte on my 5791 i dont remember now who made it though

Specs on both Manufacturers. Don't know if model # is correct but they are the only 1680X1050 screens on the sites.

i love my ifl90, i got it with the almost same spec except i didnt go for the ram, i got the free1gb instead, and went to newegg to get a 2gb for 75 and the 7k200 hdd from bb for 149, total price came out to be 1062+75+149=1286, for the spec it is really amazing, btw does any1 know where i can get a bluetooth module for this laptop?, i emailed zzf, they dont have it , they will send me a usb bt unit, but i wanted it to be in my comp
-
hmmm... it looks like the new cmo and lg wsxga+ screens have similar specs. that is reassuring.
my 2090 is a rocking fast machine. i am enjoying it more than the dell 1520 i had. much faster/better lcd/better GPU for a great price. can't go wrong. -

Thanks 000111, I guess it's OCD kicking in and the anticipation on receiving my 2090 on Thursday.
That was the only WSXGA+ on the cmo site ??? and you have to navigate a little to find the one on the LG site. Those would not link directly for some reason.
I'll post what I actually get as far as a screen on Thursday. -
I have to say this post is a bit confusing for the following reasons. Those of you that have purchased from ZZF are commenting on the screen as if it's the WSXGA+ model meanwhile the notebook ZZF is building is only based on the FL90 platform... or did I read the site incorrectly? With that being said, I know ZZF offers the FL90-S but only as a barebone product. So for those of you that have purchased, could you please let me know where you bought your (I)FL90 laptop, whether it was purchased as a barebone and what type of screen you have on it.
Thanks -
they (zzf) offer BOTH resolutions. one is 100$ more than the other and yes the wsxga is available only as barebones from zzf
-
I will receive my NP2090 from Powernotebooks.com on Thursday. I ordered the WSXGA+ screen. I will post the screen manufacturer and my thoughts on it then.
