Anyone tried this? I want to undervolt, but not sure how to go about doing it, looked at a thread that was a guide, but it never actually changed my voltage...anyone else had success in those 2 areas?

Please understand that any evidence of overclocking or undervolting any component in your notebook will void the warranty. It would be much wiser to wait until your warranty has expired before you try to undervolt the system. Undervolting is not as dangerous as overclocking, but it will still void the warranty. Better to do it after your warranty is up, when you will really need those few extra minutes of battery life.
If you want the notebook to run cooler, a much better way to ensure cool running is to simply clean the insides with compressed air every month. No dust buildup = a cool running notebook. -
Undervolting for this model (Santa Rosa) won't give you any extra battery life since NHC nor RMClock will get to the 0.85v (800Mhz) power saving state...as the Intel driver does. The default power management would be the best solution on battery power.
When AC plugged in, undervolting for sure will help you get a cooler system, my recommendation would be to try RMclock (cpu.rightmark.org), there are lots of tutorials here and in rmclock forums to start with.
Overclocking is not recommended and posibly not feasable on many laptops...believe me your CPU (T7300?) won't be a bottleneck as memory or HDD would be.
