Have any of you proud & not-so-proud Zepto 6214W / 6314W owners OC'd
your GPU? If so, whatlike results you've been able to gain?
-
Given the heat issues with stock GPU frequently reported in this Zepto section of the forum... I'd be weary about oc a Zepto
-
oc'ing a graphic card on an already hot system will cause serious heat problems and instability of internal components not that oc is impossible but should be done in moderation so as to protect your system from shut downs etc but still is not advisable as u may even lose ur gpu in extreme cases
all the best if u plan on ocing
cheers, -
Yes yes i know the risks.
I was merely wondering is it possible to do at all?
Like maybe raising them from 450 / 700 to 470 / 740 or something.
Since it seems that they're already running very hot with stock frequenzies.. -
Well theoretically yes, but with the heat and stability issues involved and the risk to components... E.g. my X1600 (same as 7600) is underclocked at 426/378, but still plays F.E.A.R fine.
Have you tried gaming yet? Those are pretty decent stock clocks to begin with, so I can't imagine you'll gain a lot -
I wouldn't recommend it AT ALL, I mean they have serious heat issues. My 7600 overheated (and I don't mean it overheated and shut the computer off so it could cool down, I mean overheated as in became damaged/faulty) from playing BF2142 for around an hour in a well ventilated room. If anything I'd recommend underclocking.

he knows the risks involved!
I dont recall anyone posting about attempts to OC their Zeppi or the results there of. But with a Zeppi working as it should, i think i could be done.
But if one were to try and overclock, going with the 6615WD would be a wise choice.
I talked to a Zepto guy on the phone once, back before i bought my 6615.
And he said the 6615 had more space inside and didnt get as work (makes sense hehe) He recommended the 6615 if gaming was primary and mobility secondary.
I have been thinking about cooling the last few weeks, and if you could have a light breeze of cool air flowing over your keyboard, your should get better cooling. And for that matter, better OC'ing results. (the air intake is under the keyboard, my left hand is allways cool
That were just some thoughts,,
Cheers -
well if you do eventually go ahead with the ocing i would recommend a cooling pad or something like that along with it well ya i guess you can increase your clock frequency a bit but i dont guaratee that huge of a performance increase in gaming though
cheers, -
Im not sure a cooling pad would help much. I saw one from zalman, and it looked as if it blew air in from the buttom. But doest the zepto's take in air from the top, through the keyboard?
Cheers -
I've understood that the air intake in 6214W / 6314W is positioned in the keyboard through thousands of small holes. So i'd doubt that would that zalman coolerpad be any help in this case.
There are various coolerpads, of which some suck air IMHO.
Oh well, i think OC' with 7600 is not my worry anymore, i should receive an Asus G1 in monday ;D But if i'm not satisfied with it, i'll probably get that 6314W. -
I was about to order a cooler pad for the 6615. So does anyone know where it takes air from and if it is from the top does anyone know any alternative cooler systems for laptops that draw air from the top? I have already seen you can buy small singular/independant fans which plug into the USB so could use these at a push but doubt they would do much.

well if your gettin a G1 out goes your older zepto eh??
i mean its quite a step up in terms of build quality and performance and those blinking green lights!!! hehe -
I were merely thinking of buying, but all these threads about their problems drove me into arms of Asus.
-
oh ok.....well thot u owned one zepto should acctualy improve their build quality and reliability ratings and so on a bit more or else theyll end up losing quite alot of customers.
as compared to your "slowpoke" haha im sure itll be quite a performance jump bet your exxcited -
Yeah, i'm expecting a huge jump in performance. Though for starters, i'm gonna run over that vista and install xp. This is going off-topic, i'll stop here
-
Hey those of you who are having crashes with BF games, it's probably a problem with 7600 drivers, not with the machine. I think it's mentioned in that 6214W review. Check it out.
