Hi everyone!
A couple of months ago, i bought a jft00.
It has worked just fine, and I have been very pleased with it.
Lately, however, it has started to overheat when running demanding applications such as games or system tools.
Tried to see if there was a way to adjust fan agressitivity in the bios, but the bios was practically empty!
I mean, the only thing i am allowed to do there is basically adjust time and date settings!
I tried to look around for bios updates, but on compals official site i didn't find anything for the jft00, and by googling further, I found this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=229510
And since compals site suggests that no bios update has been released, i became a bit sceptical.
Is it safe for me to flash my bios with this tool?
And more importantly: will flashing the bios void my warranty?
My current bios version seems to be 1.01a.n03, and in the boot screen it says something about insydeH20 whatever that means.
Thanks for reading, hope someone has some answers for me![]()

This is link to Gophn's awesome guide.

Although I'm not quite sure how bios will help out in overheating issue, but you could certainly follow instruction in gophn's guide and see if it does make difference in temperature. Since you've mentioned you had your laptop running fine till now is it?
You could even go further with cpu/gpu undervolting option which is also helpful in reducing temperature. -
Have you tried cleaning the fans or vents with compressed air? Is the system well ventilated? When the system shuts completely off can you immediately turn it back on or does it have to "cool down?" When you do turn it back on does it take shorter and shorter periods before it turns off again? If the fans as they are were cooling the system sufficiently before, and now no longer are, I'd tend to think it's not a fan control issue.
As far as flashing the BIOS voiding your warranty, it doesn't in my experience, but manufacturers usually discourage you from flashing without a good reason. The BIOS update that Eleison has there is meant to add the AHCI option back into the BIOS setup. As far as I know, that update will do nothing for temperatures or provide any fan adjustments. So in short, I wouldn't recommend flashing with it until you've talked to your reseller or Compal directly to see if they agree it's in any way going to fix an overheating problem. -
you will be fine flashing the bios, see my guide in my sig that will do what you need and its safe that way. try to always avoid doing bios updates from within windows
