You can get a Sony from P1 "optimized". But those who got theirs elsewhere and face all the bloatware can buy P1's inexpensive disk image that eliminates 90% of the labor.

I could use some help from others that have done that P1 install...

    Have you tried it?

I ordered the P1 optimized for the TZ, and I'm still waiting for my computer (which I ordered from somewhere else) so I'll let you know how it went.. I hope it's easy because I'm not that great at tough computer "stuff"

I'm not a guru, and I did it. If you follow the process carefully, and think your way through each step, you'll be fine. The people at P1 are terrific.

Be sure you receive or make a set of restore disks before doing this, as you will completely erase your hard drive, and if there is some utility or another that the P1 disk eliminates you might want a way to return to Sony bloatware. On the other hand, virtually all (but not 100%) of the utilities are on the Sony website at http://esupport.sony.com/

May I ask : after you have done your P1 Optimization: when you turn off your TZ, would the arrow pointer "vibrate" a bit and the screen flickers for about 1-2 sec before it actually turns off? Mine came optimized, but I want to redo it with the P1 disk comes with the TZ (if the observed issues are not there with you).

The DVD drive is USB ext ... would it boot from there, when hooked up and power on the TZ?

Do I need to go into the BOIS to setup? And how to get there (what key to press)?

Hope you (or anyone) can help and direct.

    TIA

With the P1 disk image, my SZ is solid as a rock with no anomalies.

    Thanks! Quick reply.

Do you just boot from the P1 disk and there will be on screen instructions, then guide you thru the rest?

Any clue on my ext USB DVD Drive issue, on boot?
