Just to let you know, the store juste received the back cover for my 6130, which was cracked

http://pages.infinit.net/thief/crackaveratec.jpg this is the picture when it first appeared

http://pages.infinit.net/thief/newcrack.jpg this is the actual crack, it has gotten bigger quite a bit

this is the new back cover before installing it. No wonder why it has cracked, the plastic has almost no resistance to bending, and the screw point (where the hinge is actually screwed) is so small. It would be no big deal to put some JB weld to help in those area. I will not modify anything, as it's still under warranty. The tech will change the back cover this monday, and I don't think he will like that I play with his parts. I will probably wait till the warranty ends before I do anything else. He changed it once, if it cracks again, I'll just change it once again.

That is uncanny! I have the exact same crack, same size, shape, location, as the one in your original picture. It doesn't bother me too much though, so I'm not going to bother with RMA at the moment. Besides, I'm overseas so the warranty probably isn't valid anyway. I haven't read it but I was told it wasn't when I bought it. Maybe I'll have a nose through it later.

wow, so cheap... since its just plastic like that, i may not even bother getting it fixed (or unless it gets too big), it will prolly just crack again.

Yeah I have the exact same cracks, maybe a little bigger.. on both sides.

I heard from somewhere that the 6110 casing is stronger.

Would the RMA replace it with a new in improved case?

Got my new casing installed now, i'm going to be a little more careful now with the new cover (I'll open the case from the center, not from the corners, like I was doing before once in a while).... It looks like it the same as the original tho

I wonder if this issue is faulty design, or bad plastic from the supplier. After all, it wasn't the design of the Titanic that brought it down, it was the brittle steel.

My 6130hs just recently developed those cracks everyone has been talking about. I'm thinking of just trying to re-inforce it from the inside. does anyone know how it comes apart? I'm also curious to know if there is any way to reduce the resistance this cover has to opening and closing. It does seem a bit much to me. If one could reduse that even a little it might help. rex.
