Bought last december for company use a nice philips freevents 55 at PC-City store in Barcelona (Subsidiary of PC-World UK). After short use the laptop would shut down unexpectedly without being able to restart. Repair service of PC-City took a month to repair and argued the machine was fine and starts normally. Shortly afterwards the same story happened again, although after 2 days off the PC started by itself and drained the battery. Shortly afterwards, the same story shut down in mid of a process and impossible to restart. Repair service again 3 weeks and everything supposedly without any flaw or failure.
This situation has repeated now 7 times, the laptop most of the time at repair service. PC-City won't exchange the PC, and now I am in a permanent loop.
Beware of purchasing this model of Philips (it appears they are not even manufacturers and therefore no customer service by them) and particularly of the customer service of PC-City, as it is totally unacceptable that the problem cannot be traced by them and neither solved permanently or exchanging for a different notebook without this flaw.
Is there anyone around with similar problems, or who may know the solution for this issue ?

It looks like a relative of the X53 discussed here.

Good luck with getting it fixed. Unfortunately you are not in UK where replacement would be a course of action.

Thanks so much for your good wishes...if I only knew what's wrong..
The PC doesn't run hot, or disengages from power. It just doesn't wake up when you press the "on" button. Perhaps if I try the next day, it turns on like it had never failed, later turning itself off again, unexpectedly. - Really weird - and no way to stop the loop to the repair service of PC-City Spain.
Next time I will make sure to have solid references of the brand and the store where I purchase, to minimize the risk of such a disaster.

after almost 1 year and 6 repair sessions and having apparently replaced almost all parts of the machine, it appears that the on/off switch or circuit was defective. Now finally it works steady. -hope it will remain that way -.

hope this will help you - good luck - & don't recommend PC-City/ PC world or any philips device !

What a nightmare. Glad to hear it was finally resolved. How's it holding up?
