Does anyone have experience with Pioneer brand notebooks?
    http://www.pioneercomputers.com.au/products/

I think these are only sold in Australia.
They have some very well priced units, I was wondering if anyone here has ever bought one?

I sure like their plasma displays, but have never seen their notebooks. I;m curious to see if anyone else has input.

Well, those are just rebranded taiwan Clevo ODM Notebooks, so the same stuff as Sager, Eurocom and so on... so nothing really exciting new.

So is that a bad thing?
I'm not familiar with any of those brands.
Do you suggest staying away from the Pioneer notebooks?

I just thought for around $1600 you get the centrino p4 and geforce 6600 video.
I havent been able to find anything with those specs for that price.

The one Im seriously looking at is the DreamBook Slim 800 with the Pentium-M 1.6GHz and dvd burner upgrade.

Im very close to buying this notebook, i just need more opinions as i cant find anything onlline besides a few magazine reviews which i can guess are pretty biased anyway.
If they are just rebranded no name notebooks then im hesitant to buy..

    thanks!

The Deambook Power 570A is the same thing as a Sager NP5720 manufactured by Clevo. The 900k is a clevo monster. I seriously hope those prices are Australian, they seems a little high. No, said notebooks aren't built for good battery. They're both built for power. I'm not so sure about the other notebooks. They don't look formiliar to me. But I know clevo has a larger line then what we all typical see, so the rest probably are to. Maybe a little variation. The three clevo machines I've seen all seem to have awesome build quality. One of my best friends owns a Sager NP5720 so I'm not just talking. You can check out the 'Sager' forum if you want more info on individual models.

As for pioneer. I'm not sure if about the company. I've never owned a pioneer product.

This isn't the same Pioneer as the company who make audio products.
Pioneer Computers aren't affiliated with them at all.
I believe they probably are just selling these notebooks rebadged.

I just wish I could see some test results on them because theres absolutely no reviews out there at all.
And yes, all prices on that site are Australian dollars. I think they are quite cheap compared to Dell etc, you guys in the US are just used to getting everything alot cheaper than we do.

    Edit -
    I found some short reviews.
    Eg -
    http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/index.php/id;196528556;fp;16;fpid;0

Now they say the Pioneer Slim 800 runs very hot which is a worry.
They measured it getting to 54.7 degrees Celsius and suggested a 3 year warranty due to this (this would blow my budget).

The above is quite a worry as I'd hate to have the thing die on me after a year due to overheating.
I have the laptop turned on for up to 10 hours per day (mostly web browsing, photoshop and Office) - could this be a huge problem for me?

Despite the above, I've put in a temporary order for the Pioneer Dreambook Slim 800.
I've asked for a better price and am awaiting a response.

I'll let you guys know how it goes if I buy it.
