    Hi,
When looking at the went located at the bottom on my 6625WD I just noticed a shiny plastic black plastic film, preventing any air to be sucked inside.
Is this normal or is it just a miss in the manufacturing process?

I have them on my 6324W as well, so I guess it's normal. I don't think its good though as it's got to impede airflow. Probably why it gets so hot. I am considering stripping my notebook to remove these plastic films. I just need to sum up the courage to do it :) .

do you mean under the laptop or under the keyboard?

Under the laptop on mine. I've removed the plastic from under the keyboard only to find the front section of my notebook (under the touchpad) gets much warmer. If you look at the two vents on the bottom of the notebook, there is a shiny plastic PCB cover that I suppose is there to protect the motherboard from foreign objects, but appears to be blocking the air inlet.

Well what I can see on my 6625, is that it has no purpose, as when you go under the keyboard, theres a metal plate beneath the fan and grill so there wont come any air that way anyway

Whereas under the fan in the 6324 and 6224 there is an air inlet that sucks air from beneath the motherboard. Granted the plastic sheets seem to serve as a form of "cover" for the motherboard, but they are impeding airflow into the notebook.

This has been discussed before (but I can't find the thread now due to the M.I.A. search function). Zepto technicians then told us to NOT remove the plastic cover. However I do not recall why.

maybe that plastic film makes the fan draw air from farther intakes in the case, thu cooling parts other than the CPU ??

Having looked through loads of threads on here I can only find one that refers to any "plastic sheet" and that was talking about the "credit card sized piece of plastic" on the rear of the keyboard, just above the fan's top inlet. Nothing about the plastic sheets on the underside of the motherboard, beneath the two grills.

I am sitting down here in Australia reading all these entries and wondering "why does all this come up in a forum, why don't they ask the manufacturer"?
Maybe I am ignorant, but so be it.
I am sitting working on a 6625WD and can't find the mentioned plastic strips. This unit was a top of the range with everything back in August 2007, and it has never missed a beat.
What I wanted to say is that the plastic strip on the 6224W and 6324W are there to direct the airflow through the notebook and the cooling system, and should not be removed. If you remove it the air just goes straight through the keyboard, into the fan and out.
I have sold a number of 6224's and 6324's with T7500 processors before they were removed with possible heat problems, and they are all still running without any problems now after 10-11 months.
I am experiencing under 5% error rate in Australia, and some of these have been optical drive failure and other simple things, and down here 95% of repairs are handled locally.

The plastic strip I am refering to is fitted to the motherboard, on the underside of the notebook. You can see a black shiny plastic strip fitted when you look through the vents on the underside of the notebook. These strips seem to be making more contact with the case than the motherboard and thus blocking the inlet vents from getting a decent air supply/flow. I have found through trial and error that the plastic strip fitted to the underside of the keyboard does indeed redirect the air to flow over the top fan cover, which is also the GPU heatsink, and also force air to be pulled from beneath the motherboard, and, I assume, through the vent inlets on the underside of the notebook.
