I'm looking for a new laptop, and after using a D610 for about 2 years i'd like a good keyboard, i keep hearing that the Zepto's have poor keyboards. Does anyone have this issue, or is it just a matter of taste? The models i'm looking at are either then 3415W or the 6224W

    Hi there,

I've a friend with a Zepto 3415W, all I hear are raving good reviews about it. When you say poor keyboard, what do you mean, do you mean the keyboards don't have a nice 'click' when typing or some other problem?

I like the keyboard on my 6324W. It took some getting used to the location of the Ctrl key and Fn key.

    Hi,
Mainly flexing and mushy responce. I used to repair Dell laptops, and i know the issues the old D600 and D610's had with this. The D620/30 is a million times better, and my own A6KM is rather good but this is what i'm replacing.

I'd like something to match the KB on my A6 yet offer better performance, with a 8600GT or better, in as small as possible hence the 6224 interest.

Sadly almost every review of the zepto's mention poor flimsy keyboards which is kind of off putting.

Ohhh mushy and flexing is not good. I love to hear the 'click' when I type. I hate mushy feeling keyboards.

My main complaint about the 6024W's keyboard is that I have to press the keys hard to get them to register. After 6 months I still get characters which fail to register. It's a feature that I am living with since the rest of the computer is working OK.

By hard do you mean you have to press down hard or is it just the travel you are talking about? I have noticed the travel is further than that of my old Dell inspiron I had. But its no more than I have to press for my desktop keyboard.

By hard I mean that I have to push the keys right to the end of their travel in order for the character to register and it feels hard having fingers hitting rock bottom each time. I don't think the travel is very long.

The keyboard on my 6224W is by far the worst keyboard I have ever used.

As John says, you have to push them all the way down, and they are less responsive if you hit the top of the key (i.e. where the letters are.

Also, the keys at the edges (i.e. the -> and Fn key) curve out, making the keyboard look very ugly and cheap.

Other than that, great laptop, I love it :D
