I have heard through the grapevine that Portable One is going to release a semi-rugged windscreen notebook this month. I am waiting but what to know when. Can anyone help me out

Well, I know Ivan monitors these forums...maybe he'll give some hints.

I exchanged a couple emails with Ivan and they are going to release new ultra portables with the widescreen form factor with sizes at 12.1, 13.3, and 14.1 with all of them being under 5lbs. He said they are waiting on intel, but expects them to be released in April/May. He also noted that the screens on the 14.1 won't be as nice as the screens on the MX. I am hoping this 13.3 from portable one might give the Fujitsu 6231 a run for its money.

hmm...maybe i'll have to pick up one of the 12.1"ers when P1 releases them! then i can have an ultraportable "little brother" for my MX! [ :)]

did ivan happen to mention if any of the screens are going to be "standard" as opposed to glare-type LCD's? any word on resolution?

He didn't mention anything about that. But it doesn't appear that he is opposed to disclosing information about the upcoming releases. Try sending him an email. He replies almost instantly. Really amazing.

Alright, has anyone else heard about or have any info on the WX Portable One plans to release in June/July'ish? All I know is it will be geared more towards consumers and home users than the MX. It would be perfect to see it with a wsxga and decent video card. I am thinking of an Asus W3v or A63a or V6v (I know, I love them all) but don't want to buy until I see what P1 gives us!! Is anybody out there waiting for this to be released too? Also, Asus and Portable One are basically the same comp just P1 mods them, right??

I asked the guy at P1 whether it would be more or less expensive than the MX, and he said that it would probably be more expensive because, even though it's less portable, it will have a lot more features.

^it's going to be more expensive than the MX?

hmm.. any idea who the ODM will be for this one? In the past P1 used Twinhead and Asus, however i don't see any new Twinhead or Asus that matches the description of these new designs.. [?]
