All this news about the 8800 GTX and stuff making me rethink getting this notebook. Part of the reason is that i used to always like having the later edge technology cause i gamed alot.
Well I dont game nearly as much as I used to, but i would like to enjoy games of Battlefield 2, maybe UT3, Crysis would not hurt me either way of i played lol.
Now i know that i probably could not at a later point upgrade the 8600M GT depending on the MXM stuff for the GTX, but would the 8600M GT allow me to play games (Like BF2, UT3, CNC3) at gat least medium settings at (1440x900) or (1280x800)? That all im looking at. For the game to look decent with decent framerates. So would i still be best (According to my needs) at getting this laptop? Outside of a few games, I only intend to of course surf the net, watch movies, play music, message (some of these while im gaming) and stuff like that, type papers.
I dont wanna end up getting teh 8800 GTX and feel like i needlessly

The 8600m GT is no pushover. Definitely isn't an 8800m GTX, but no mobile card currently is as powerful as that one.
Given that, the 8600m GT seems to run BF2 and UT3 fine for me, you could get a lower resolution screen (WXGA 1280 x 800) and run that at native for some good frames, due to the lower resolution.
If you're really looking to play the latest and greatest, perhaps you could look at desktop options. Any 8800m GTX notebook will carry a very heavy price premium.
