Are gaming notebooks not expected to last more than a year or so?

I ordered a PowerPro 15:2 back in like September 2009, had a very good experience with the friendly PowerNotebooks folks like everyone else says, liked the machine for serveral months, but now:

    - Both of the hinges holding on the screen have now cracked completely across, and it's nearly impossible to open and close (and when I do the movement of the hinges damages the screen a bit more every time). Although I bought the fancy 3-year warrantee, the powernotebooks folks say that this would be an Out Of Warrantee repair (apparently the warrantee only applies if you never open or close the screen!).

-The keyboard generates random wrong keystrokes, too rarely to ever recreate the problem, but often enough that at least once a week I end up sending a piece of mail before I'm done with it, and I end up with paragraphs reformatted to "right adjusted purple bold" or something often enough that I curse loudly. (And no it's not my typing; the other computers I use regularly don't have this kind of problem at all.)

    - The near-left corner of the system, down below the fn-control-windows-alt keys, looks very shoddy and worn-out, I guess from me resting my left hand there sometimes when I type. Not a big deal, but ugly, and doesn't give me a good feeling about the general quality-of-materials.

Maybe gaming computers just aren't supposed to last very long? They're all obsolete the day they arrive, of course. :) Should I expect my next one to do the same thing, or did I just get unlucky this time?

Do you know who is the OEM + model of this notebook? You may get more feedback from other users of the same if you post in the appropriate manufacturer's forum.
