I was just wondering what the general opinion is between the two IFL90 iterations. I seem to see a lot more Sagers in the signatures, but the PowerPro proved to be a better deal for me, and I'm a lot more confident in the warranty through PowerPro.

3 year coverage with next day shipping and lifetime tech support. That's both ideal and affordable.

Well, the PowerPro J 10:15 is PowerNotebook's customization of the Compal IFL-90 (instead they host the Sager NP2090 and their PowerPro in lieu of the Compal). They're the same laptops overall, with the exception of factory warranties.

In that case, you get a Sager warranty and not a PowerPro warranty. The warranty is what sets the PowerPro line apart.

Powerpro offers the best warranty in terms of 3 years parts AND labor compared to the Sager and Xotic's

    Am I correct?

Powerpro and Xotic's 3year warranty on their branding all are parts and labor. Sager's 1 year standard warranty is parts and labor as well but you can buy an extended 3 year warranty which is also parts and labor.

Xotic offers the same warranty on their versions of the IFL90 as powernotebooks does.

The PowerPro is sold only by PowerNotebooks. XoticPC's brand of Compal IFL90 is Force I think...

I just got the Force Compal IFL90 from Xotic, its pretty much exactly the same price. I went with them because they're closer to me in location and it was like $6 cheaper than powernotebooks :D

Well the Sager and the Compal are just the same computer, just different warranties (and options for a 120 GB 7200 RPM HDD, which is nice.) So it doesn't really matter.

Doesn't really matter? Why bother buying a machine with a warranty at all then? Just save yourself the money and get a DIY kit for the same notebook.

The difference in the warranty and service between the Sager versions and the rebrands that Powernotebooks and XoticPC offer is huge.

But, if your thing it to call machines that ask you to press a bunch of keys and put you on hold when your college papers are do and the notebook is dead, or get a foreigner on the line that doesn't understand your problem and/or treats you like they know more reading from their prompter and 1 weeks training.... Ehh... sure.. the sager is better..

I meant from a technical standpoint between the computers, they are exactly the same. Which is why I thought this thread was sort of silly.

I went off the thread starters post, as I think many people did, to come up with my conclusion. ;)

Nothing harsh intended at you BlackYoshi, just a bit a sarcasm :D

    EDIT:

I do want to clarify the above statement however. Their are many smart people working at Sager, however, they aren't the guys that answer the phone when things go wrong for us consumers. ;)

I was going to get one of the Barebones and build myself and I would save couple hundred bucks comparing to PowerPro or whatever Powernotebooks and XoticPC builds, but when I compared Barbone vs Sager 2090 this is what I came up with

For 60 more bucks for sager2090 I would get

Same warranty as barebone 1 year 3 year labor
No hassle of building it myself, ready to play :D
512mb of video memory instead of 256mb on IFL90 WXGA
9 cell battery instead of 6 cell
DVDRW instead of CDRW Combo I was going to go for barebone

Hmm but when compared with similar stats theres about a 40 dollar difference (the sager being cheaper)...Is sager's customer service bad enough to warrant the 40+ surplus or likewise powerpro's service that much better?

Hmm if i can save 40 dollars i might as well :D

Powernotebooks service is leaps ahead of Sagers. As I said above, it's not that they are bad.. but there is much better to be had.

Think of it like fast food... it's not that it so much tastes bad, but there is so much better if you are willing to pay the small difference to go to a higher class restaurant...

Yes, PowerNotebooks.com service is significantly better if for no other reason (and there are plenty of other reasons) we offer Lifetime 24/7 DOMESTIC Toll Free Customer Service as opposed to the West Coast business hours service Monday through Friday only provided by Sager and most other Sager resellers.

Also, the PowerPro's standard 3 Year Warranty provides Next Business Day shipping paid both ways instead of the 3 day shipping Sager offers.

$40...I would think most people would agree that it is worth it. Hmmm, maybe we should even raise our prices a bit :D

I'm curious if this person tried calling you guys to see if you are running any of the specials that might make up that $40 difference. :D

Free Arctic Silver 5 used to be our call in special but we now offer that as standard.

The $40 difference is there because of the reasons stated...there is no way to get more for the same price that you would otherwise pay for less.

If a $40 difference is a decision point then the Sager is the best way to go, and if you buy the Sager from PowerNotebooks.com you still get the Lifetime 24/7 DOMESTIC Toll Free Customer Service, you just don't get that if buying directly from Sager or most of Sager's other resellers.

    Cool Facts Donald!

It just dawned on me from reading your post that both the machines in the poll are available from Powernotebooks.com! :)

Maybe the OP should have clarified if they were intended that way, or if they person actually meant a "Sager" notebook vs. a PowerNotebooks machine?
