I've had my Hel 80 for a little more than a month now, and frankly i'm very disappointed. I bought it primarily to run Pro Tools and other audio applications, but the Direct Procedure Call latency is horrendous on this thing. Even after a fresh install of Windows, before installing any drivers, it's terrible. So I suspect it's due to something related to the chipset. I'd return the laptop if it wasn't too late, but I only found out about this after the return time ran out.

Has anyone else had this problem or found a way to deal with it. The best way to measure your Direct Procedure Call latency is with the app at this link.

I've run out of ideas to fix this, I've tried disabling every driver i can, and it never stays down to a reasonable level.

Just curious what speed HD you have, and have you actually tried to do your audio / video work? or are you just saying it wont work because of this tool.

I've disabled every single device in the control panel that I can, including NIC, WiFi, card reader, webcam, USB controllers, Firewire, anything that can be dissabled, but the problem has not gone away.

The hard drive speed is 7200 RPM, and I'm using an MBox2 and a Digi 002(not at the same time). The problems occur when the DPC latency goes up, and Pro Tools isn't able to work fast enough. This is really frustrating since my 3 year old desktop will run my audio apps better than this laptop.

I'll take a look at that thread in case there's any useful information.

Welcome to Windows being a bad tool for some jobs. You might consider setting the process priority of Protools as realtime in your Task Manager, which means that it will take priority over pretty much everything. Might alleviate some of the data transfer problems.

Unless the keyboard or touchpad are USB I've tried it with no USB devices connected, I've even disabled the USB controller while running the DPC Latency checker, and the latency was still too high.

I'll try setting Pro Tools to Real Time, but whenever I've done that with other apps in the past, Windows runs really slow.
