Was browsing around ProStar's online site (Configuring imaginary systems. <<; ) Two quick stupid questions. Why does ProStar offer a 2 year warrenty from Philips Magnavox.(I know I'm going to get some anwser like they are the same company. xP ) Second, is ProStar the same company that used to make those ugly Satellite Dishes? (Here, I'll get an anwser like "They were Philips back then!" )
Edit: -Shoots the random smiley face.-

Prostar is exactly like Sager, they might be the same company, but I can't be sure.
Either way, I haven't heard much about them. I'd go with a Sager.
Sager and Prostar both offer their extended (first year is on them) warranties through Phillips Magnavox. I can't be positive because I really don't know, but I think that they outsource it becase they are a small company, and might not have the capacity to service all the machines if they need to be sent in. Just a thought. Probably more cost-effective as well.
I have read some bad comments about Phillips Magnavox - miscommunication, etc. If you are interested in getting an extended warranty, I'd recommend going through a dealer that offers support by themselves. There are several dealers who do that (for Sager notebooks that is) - Discount Laptops, and PCTorque too I believe. -

I'm not particularly interested, just browsing and curious. ^^ I saw a model on Laptopmagazine that was one of there toppers for the month. But usually the ones they pick out always seem over-rated to me. (I've noticed there the models eveyone complains about in the forums half the time! o.o; ) If I were really serious I would take your advice and trust Sager over ProStar. I recognized there stuff as Clevos and even so the idea of Philips Magnavox having anything to do with a notebook (Very scary thought... x.x; ) would be enough to scare me away, because there's not much Phillips gets right. ><; If anybody could come out with a notebook and bump Avertec up a notch in buildquality by comparison. It would be Philips. I doubt they could get a barebone right. Sorry for the ranting. o.o;
ProStar... What?
