I had to open up my ilf90 in order to gain access to the ExpressCard slot for a tiny repair.
It was my first time opening the notebook (I don't count opening up the HDD or RAM sections on the bottom ; P ) and it went pretty well. I took off the keyboard and then the logic upper, as shown in a disassembly guide (google "ifl90 disassembly guide" and there you have it) and reached the slot as intended. Now I want to put everything back as it was, and that's where I got in trouble.
I don't know how to reconnect the ribbon cables which connect the touchpad and fingerprint sensor to the motherboard. They flex when I try to insert them. Is there any specific method of putting the cables in their place?
I made some photos, but I can't post the urls (I'm too new a user). Probably can send them in PM's if anyone wanted a look.

On each side of the connector there are a couple of tabs connected by a bar that need to be slid out of the connector a little. They slide towards the front edge of the laptop. I use a couple of tiny flat screwdrivers to do this. You then slip the ribbon back into the connector and slide the tabs back in place. The tabs are usually a contrasting color to the connector. If you happen to side them out too far, just line it and slide it back in. Use a "soft touch" so you don't break them. Hope this helps you.

Oh wow, I tried moving the other part, and since it didn't, I thought it's immobile.
Thanks a million! You saved me. -
Glad to hear it worked for you. I get lucky once in awhile.
