I've been having loads of problems as told in this email to Averatec customer service:

    " Hello,
I purchased an Averatec AV6130HS-20 on December 2nd from Amazon, and I am having several problems with the computer. The biggest problem is with the internal power adapter. When I boot the computer from the battery, then plug it into the power supply, the screen will go black 7/10 times and the computer will not respond to any commands. I am forced to hold the power button which causes me to lose my work. Another problem I have is with the hibernation. When I try to o boot the computer out of hibernation mode, it goes through the bios fine, but when it tries to load windows, 9/10 times it will go black as mentioned above, forcing me to hold the power button to manually shut the computer off. The last problem I have had with this computer is regarding the battery: It will suddenly go from 35% to 3% which forces my computer to turn off. The battery sensor must be broken or something like that. These problems with the computer are very serious and unacceptable. Please let me know how I would get the computer repaired or replaced under warranty.

    Sincerely,
    Andrew Lechtholz-Zey

Please let me know what I should do about these problems. If this is a recurring problem with Averatec how would I go about returning the computer altogether. It seems it would be more difficult becuase it was purchased through Amazon.

    Hey Andrew,

From what you have described it looks like you might have received a lemon and I would go ahead and return it to Amazon before your 30 days are up. I’ve had my laptop for about a week now and I haven’t experienced any of the problems that you have mentioned.

I’ve started my laptop from the battery and plugged in the power cable afterwards and have never experienced it locking up. I can’t comment on the hibernation issue because I’ve disabled it on my laptop, but I would assume that this problem is not a common trait to the 6130. In any case I would go ahead and return it just for the fact that you've been having so many problems with the laptop in such a short time. With all of the problems you’re having already it seems more than likely that your laptop might be a lemon and need to be returned or exchanged.

I don’t know Amazon’s return policy but I’m sure that it isn’t going to be too difficult to return or exchange the laptop, but then again I might be wrong!

Yea I'm thinking at this point to get the 3250HX from Circuit City. It has an 80gb harddrive and a Dual Format DVD Burner. The battery life is better, and it's not close to as heavy. unfortunately though, it doesn't have a Graphics card, but the way I see it, it would prevent me from wasting my time playing games. Too bad I already ordered an Intel Pro 200BG Internal Wireless for my 6130HS. If anyone out there has a truly horrible wireless as I do, let me know and I might just sell you the Wireless Card for $30. I wouldn't make or lose any money on it, but I think that's fair seeing as its unopened.

This has happened to me once as well but slightly different. When I was testing the battery and ran it down to 7% the laptop forced me into hibernate so I when it did I plugged the AC back in with no issues and it came right back up then I pulled the ac plug right back out(not smart but I was wondering why with 7 % that should have given me 5 mor min of life, why was the laptop forcing me to shutdown) and after I pulled the plug it shutdown (hibernate) then I plugged in again and it froze up while making a beep! and would not stop till I shuit it all the way dowm. I plugged back in and powered right back up. I didn't think to much of it until reading these posts. Any ideas?

i have had mine for 6 months now and have not had any problems with it . It sounds like you got the one in 10,000 pos I would recomend returning it and getting a new one all together dont let them repair it and give it back to you. It would still be a lemon and another problem could be right aroud the corner. Please dont let this one notebook with problems keep you from getting the same one it really ios a wonderful machine and for the price you cant beat it . Its the equivelent of a bmw at a volkswagen price.

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has had any kind of problems using a cable lan connection for the internet. I have always used the internet card but when I tried to connect using a cable it gave me the Limited or no connectivity warning. Also I was wondering if I should be seeing the link lights in the cable jack when I plug it in. I am hoping someone out there has had this problem and knows how to fix it. And if someone that connect to the Internet by a cable can see the link light when they plug it in, I would appreciate it if they told me.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

I don't think there's a link light where the ethernet jack is located. Sounds to me like your internet connection is down. Reboot your modem/router and restart your machine.
