Has anyone gotten one of the new Pro-star 5722?
Just wondering about Prostars service, quality, etc...
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Buncha people have it, but they bought it as a Sager 5720. Check those threads, but it is such a new chassis that nobody has a comprehensive review just yet...

Check their rating on ResellerRatings .

I recommend ordering from PowerNotebooks . They have the best customer service and are very friendly and helpful.

Yes- that is otherwise known as the Sager 5720. ;)

Do you really think I could get a better deal than getting it directly through Prostar?

That's not really fair since Prostar has no rating at all on that comparison site!

yes, since Prostar doesn't make the chassis. Both Prostar and Sager get the chassis from Clevo in Taiwan. It isn't like Prostar is the farmer and by going to them you're getting the fresh apples from the roadside stand...

    Check PCTroque.com, discountlaptops.com, powernotebooks.com for the 5720.

The name of the company who makes this model notebook is Clevo, like the gentleman mentioned above. Their website is: http://www.clevo.com.tw. The nice model (preferable) is M570A using the nVidia 7800 GPU. I've tried my d*mnedest to see if a local US supplier can sell me that barebone model, but unsuccessful so far. I have emailed Clevo tech support & their sales department to see if they can provide a US supplier, or perhaps I can purchase it directly through them.

I ESPECIALLY love the fact that I can plug in and ADDITIONAL hard drive & run Raid 0! That would make a KILLER notebook. Supposedly all you would have to do is take the CDROM drive out, and put in the 2.5" HD in the same slot. Heck, how often do you really need an optical drive anyway? Personally, I'd just carry around a USB burner for those times I need it. This laptop (as long as the LCD display is decent) would definitely be a desktop killer replacement!

Well, it is possible to put two hard drives in the M570A (Sager NP-5720) - one internal and one in the modular bay - but it is not possible to put them in RAID for that reason...if you want raid, you have to get the D900 series, which are huge and hot.

Wooooo... Good catch, Chaz. I read right past the "Raid 0" part of that post earlier.
