Ok, so I tried using the Smart battery program on my IFL 90 and it doesn't seem to work. I let the battery drain to about 65%, then plugged it in and double clicked on the smart battery icon in the task manager. Then I picked the balance option and clicked X. I found my battery charged completely. Then I tried again, but this time, I left the little window open. Again, the battery charged to full....so how the heck do I use this thing?!!!!

Another question. When I use Wow video, one of the choices is user defined. Where can I go to change the settings for user defined? Can I change the Wow audio settings too?
Thanks! -
Mine does the same thing. Does it look like there are more options on the screen too, but they are out of sight and you can't maximize them too? yeah.
For the Wow settings to go control panel and switch to classic view and there should be a Wow video/audio icon. -
My Smart Charge worked before but it stopped working. I'm on 64 bit business
EDIT: Yeah it just started working again a couple of seconds ago... weird I don't know what I did -
Yeah I can definitely see that there are some things off screen but I cant maximize it. Plus, the Wow Audio/video doesn't allow me to change the settings. At least from what I saw.
-
huh... those off screen things are we talking about smart charge? has anybody tried just using alt+space and moving it? Both my smart battery and WOW work fine... for user defined WOW just select details in the WOW control panel options... i wish there was a user defined WOW Audio setting... most of em are useless
-
I have had yet to even find the smart charge program. I click the smart charge button on the far left, but nothing happens, and I can't find smart charge anywhere in my programs.
-
There's a SmartBattery icon in Control Panel... Mine seems to be working fine, but it doesn't always show up in the task-bar.
-
i have the same problem as invain. i checked the control panel, nothing's there. i'm on xp.
-
Ok the icon is there, but how the heck do you use it? Do you pick an option and hit the close button or keep it open?
-
In order for the smart battery to work, you need to be plugged in. basically it just stops the battery from charging. When you press it and the light shows up that means it will just charge your battery to whatever you setting you put the smart battery at. If you press it and the light turns off, it will just completely stop charging at whatever percent your battery is at.
-
So do I have to keep the little smart battery window open? When i close it, it reverts back to fully charging the next time I open it. Plus I have no idea what light you are taking about? The blinking blue light up front? Thanks for the help. I wish there was a user manual.
-
Can anyone explain please?
-
has anyone figured out what the people who can't even find smart battery on their computer need to do?
-
same here, I see the buttons on the left side of the laptop but I cant find the program?
-
Plug in your lappy and press the button. This red light should light up. If it doesn't i think you might need to download the drivers again.
EDIT: On another note, The USB button below the smart battery button should light up when your laptop is OFF. I think the USB button gives power to the two usb slots on the left side of the laptop when it is off. -
where woudl we get the drivers? what would they be called in the driver cd?
-
they weren't on my driver cd but i found them on the sager website. i haven't tested yet to see if it worked
-
does the H/EL80 have smart battery as well? also, what are the improvements of this anyway? what are the gains? so what, my battery does not get charged constantly when I'm on battery and plugged in.. But it still discharges does it not, so it gets charged again? Shouldn't this be automatic and not driver dependant then, if it's an all-good-no-loss solution?
Unless there is a downside to this?
In my opinion, the system would be 'smart' had it completely disconnected the battery circuit once the system is on mains, and only enable a wee backup part just enough to sustain power and allow the circuit to be reswitched had there been a sudden change in the mains or had the computer been unplugged. That way, we'd skip the whole charge/discharge cycle, skip the constant charging when the battery is on 99.9% and then 100%, and still retain the ability to unplug the laptop or have the battery working as a simple UPS.
Unless that is how it works now and the smartness of the smart battery is soemthing different?
If someone could shed some light on this for me, that'd be great
Cheers!

Well there's smart battery in the physical sense, like a "smart" Li-ion battery. In this case, its a hardware/software-based solution that is unrelated. Basically it is supposed to allow you to keep your laptop at a certain charge (say, 50) when plugged in instead of constantly charging/discharging. No idea if it actually works in that respect.
Edit: Just realized my post wasn't very clear. Basically, what you are thinking of is the "smart" Li-ion battery or the "smart" AC adapter; this is a different utility. -
i have vista 32 and couldnt find the smart battery driver for vista 32, just for vista 64 and xp, anyone know where i can find it...
-
I dowloaded them from the Bizcom website and its still the same. I don't think Smart Battery works with Vista...
-
It does work on vista. I have no idea what the problem is :\. Is your battery just charging to 100% all the time? So your charging it and then draining it?
-
I was doing that. Now I just charged it to a 100% and took the battery off. I'm going to e-mail XoticPc or Bizcom support regarding this. By the way Rcervantes, what OS are you running? Vista 32 or 64 bit?
-
that's silly - you should store your lion's at 40%.
-
This is how my smart battery looks..
I e-mailed Xotic. I hope they can fix it.Attached Files:

That is because you have large fonts enabled, and the windows will not scale to accommodate the large fonts. To change the large font to normal font, go to Control Panel/Personalize/Adjust Font Size (DPI).
Another way around this is to locate the Smart Battery shortcut file and forcing it to open with a maximized window. Right click on the shortcut file, Properties/Shortcut tab and select Maximized in the Open field. -
I'm running Vista business 32bit
-
Yeah the large DPI was totally the problem. Once I set it back to normal, I saw the buttons and smart battery works. I always thought windows would resize the windows to accomodate the larger fonts, but guess not. Thanks for all the help everyone!
