    Hi all,

I am gonna buy a new notebook soon and was looking for a notebook that works well with linux. Unfortunately I haven't found anything I liked in the specs or in the compatability regarding linux until I stumbled upon the Compal HEL 80 barebone however I have a few questions regarding it with linux compatability.

    1. What LAN chipset is used and does it work with linux (couldn't find an answer anywhere including google)?
    2. What Soundcard is used and does it work with linux (couldn't find an answer anywhere either including google)?

If anyone knows compatability regarding these items please let me know. The notebook will be running Gentoo Linux so compiling a driver or editing a kernel is no problem for me

Both the integrated LAN and sound card use Realtek chipsets. Linux drivers are available directly from the download section of their Web site.
