I am thinkgin about buying Compal IFL-90 and I was wondering if the vertical scrolling on the touchpad works, b/c I read a thread about sager np2090 and one of the users said the touchpad vertical scrolling doenst work on those models.

Also one of my pet peeves is really loud/noisy DVD drives.. does anyone know if the IFL-90 DVD drive is loud/noisy.

    Thanks.

My touchpad scrolling works, and my dvd is silent (it is though the most noisy part of the the whole thing, but its not at all bad)

Touchpad scrolling works. Its a tad bit sensitive for me actually. The dvd drive isn't loud at all. Its fairly quiet, but you will definitely hear it spin up when you pop a disc in.

Scrolling will depend on OS you use...factory driver for Touchpad has problems with XP. It's a driver issue to it should be resolved doon.
I just used a Synaptics driver and I can scroll on XP, there is some workaround to get it done....don't worry.
    DVD is silent on mine.

Almost all notebook DVD drives will be loud and 'rackety' due to the size constraints, there's no real way of avoiding it. Simply running a CD/DVD will be fine, but if you are burning a disc at 8x, it'll be pretty loud.

    My touchpad scrolling works fine.

The DVD drive is not very loud to me, considering I came from an extremely loud desktop.

where do u get the synaptics driver for the sager 2090?
DVD drive is very quiet, unless you stick in the included CDs from Sager... then for some reason it sounds like construction is happening on your desk
