Well, I just recieved my lappy back from Zepto. They fixed some of the stuff...
- They put in a new screen - but the wrong one!!! I used to have crystal clear
- They changed the HDD from a 160 GB 5400 to another 160 GB 5400 - Or so they say in the following letter. Problem is I never had that one. I had a 60 GB 7200. The same that's in the lappy right now btw...
- Now the fan is making a nasty sound when I fire up the lappy...
So... It's going back again tomorrow...![]()
Now, I've always been a big fan of Zepto and their support and service, but this simply boogles the mind. It's just to lousy! I'm kinda angry right now![]()
I'll keep you posted as this thing develops...

Really sorry to hear that man, I can only imagine it's very very frustrating.
Lets hope they fix it right the 2nd time around and perhaps get a little
something for your trouble. -
yeah I hope they manage to get it right... It's extra troublesome 'cause I'm writing my finishing thesis in school, and my old laptop I'm using now can't run the programs I need to run...

Too funny, we're working on my wife's thesis at this very moment, she defends it today!
Good luck to you! -
Thanks
And good luck to your wife! I hope she does well!

HPJ what was the original problem ??
Btw : Crystal clear sucks you should be happy to have a matte
I sincerely hope that they fix mine correctly. With all the tests I ran before sending it in they should have 95% of the information needed to find out what's bugging and fix it. If I were them, I'd replace the defective 7600 with a 8600GT just to make sure ;-) (i know it's not possible but if it were it'd be cool ^^) -
Hehe... Yeah that would be cool.
Original problems was:
- Overheating (massively)
- Loose keyboard (they replaced the keyboard, so that's fine now)
- Problem with the screen. It sometimes went into "inverse", like a photo-negative. And there was a vertical line of different colour than what was on the screen
- Problems writing DVD's
It really sucks!! At least I was promised they will treat is as an urgent RMA. Hopefully this means delivery < 1 week. -
I had overheating problems as well... at least i did before the thing went nuts and refused any kind of nvidia driver.
I never tried burning a DVD... couldn't get the drive to recognize my writeable dvds, but I hear that differs from the brand you use. -
Oh man... I should have recieved a postage-slip today, so I wouldn't have to pay the postage, but it (of course?) didn't show up in my mail box... I wonder what else will go wrong (as I'm certain these aren't the only problems I'll encounter)...
Well...
EDIT: I've found out this wasn't Zepto's fault, but the postal service's ineptitude.

HPJ, if you give me your customer number i'll check to see if a postage-slip was sent to you.

Yay ! My laptop is back
! (I'm happy case you couldn't tell
)
And it seems to be working just fine !
Special thanks to ZeptoUK for his decisive help ! Thanks also to ReneS. Both of you have been very helpful. -

Good news! Any indication of what was fixed?
Careful how you use it, in case it breaks again.
John
PS: For what was fixed, read here. -
Well, lucky you... I'll just go to bed and cry myself to sleep. I want mine back too!! (well, in working order of course)
-
Yeah John I updated my initial post
I have to say I did encounter one problem :
My windows vista wouldn't update when I got it back. (odd). I took the opportunity to install the 64bit version (I ordered from microsoft website for free) and at first boot : my vista was blocked.
I think that was the problem initially too. It said that my trial version was over.
I had to call the online activation system to reactivate my cd key. This because my MB was changed and therefore the computer was wasn't recognized anymore.
Hope u get yours back soon HPJ ! -
So it seems I'm not the only one with problems. I used my laptop for a week and then its screen started to flicker (cable not connected well propably) and I sent it back. Now it has been two weeks and I haven't got ANY status of my laptop despite I have emailed many emails and tried to call half a dozen times or so. They just don't answer but I don't know if it's Zeptos or Finlands Zepto retailer fault.
Anyway, I'm hoping to get it back since it was good laptop and I was more than happy with it. Hope everyone else will get their own back too! -
I just got an email saying mine will ship today, so I should have tomorrow morning hopefully.
(And I need it bad 'cause I just got a 22" TFT panel, and the laptop I'm using now can't use the proper resulution). A million thanks to ZeptoUK for all his help in this matter.
Harr1l, Have you tried calling the danish number? I have always gotten an answer when I call. -
I would call there but I can't talk any danish and understanding english on the phone is pretty hard. I'll wait for a while and if there's no answer next week I'll contact consumer rights helper or whatever it's in english.
I just can't understand what's so hard to tell me what's going on. If they said I have to wait for a week, that would be ok.
EDIT: Ok, their repair man has been ill and he will phone me friday. I think all goes just fine. -
Glad it worked out for you Harr1l.
On another bright note, I finally got a fully functioning Zepto laptop back today. And everything's working A-OK.
So now I can take ful advantage of the 22" TFT I got for my birthday. My old Thinkpad (T23 - 1133 MHz - 256 MB RAM - 16 MB GFX) had trouble showing anything in native resulution (1680 x 1050)
WOW you can fit alot onto the screen. -
Glad things worked out for you HPJ. And yeah 1680*1050 is sweet !
