Hi guys I'm always looking to push the envelope. I just noticed that a couple of dealers (power notebooks, xotic pc) are offering 3 gigs (1+2) 4 gigs ram setups as configuration options. My question is this how stable/compatible is the hel 80 with 2 2gig sticks in dual mode? Or should I just move on to the Ifl 90?

The HEL80 is perfectly stable with 2x 2 GB SODIMMs, but you can only expect between 3 - 3.2 GB to be accurately addressed unless you are using a 64 bit OS, and the dual channel performance increase really isn't significant enough to justify using 4 GB over 3 GB in a 32 bit OS.

Windows XP is only adressing 2.88GB.
The best is to go for 64Bit OS and then use the 4GB of mem, otherwise stay with the 2GB ram with the 32Bit OS
With 2GB ram and 1GB Robson Vista is the best choice. (32/64Bits)

I'm pretty sure I read something about the Hel80's chipset being unable to address more than 3GB of ram (darned if I can find/link to it now), so while it might be perfectly stable with 4GB installed, you won't be taking advantage of it on this computer, even with a 64-bit OS.

Thanks guys I did some searching and found an old discussion in the forum about the same topic. The max the chipset in my notebook can address is 3gb.
Most of the software i use is not too stable in a 64 bit system so I wont be making that step anytime soon.
