    Hello there.
    I'm a happy owner of a Znote6214W and i'm using Vista 32bits
But something very strange occurred to me, on Monday.
I installed a new version of quicktime, and then no more SPDIF light

Off course what i did was to uninstall quicktime + itunes,
    Didn't worked.
Next Unistalled the driver, didnt worked,
installed the microsoft driver, again no light coming out of the jacket.
Finaly installed the latests Realtek HD audio driver x2.06, Nothing

I'm getting a bit worried, because i remember that the SPDIF red light used to come out during the boot, but now, since monday, I have not seen it yet ...

And more, sometimes the laptop doesn't POST, get's stuck in the Zepto screen

    Please help me

    (sorry my english :p)

i had the light on months ago, then it turned off and its still off. but i dont care as i do not need SPDIF. but i am also interested in how to turn this baby back on (just in case...)

    ah, easy:

go to your soundsettings and add a checkmark for SPDIF. then you can turn SPDIF sound on and off, just like your microphone. Et voila, your light is back on (or off, you decide!)

    I'm using Vista.
I already "Set to Default" the Realtek Digital Output and it's not muted.
If i play an mp3 in Media Player, I see the windows equalizer bar coming up, so the sound is suposed to be coming out ...

It's realy strange, anybody now if there is an option in the BIOS to enable AC3 ?

And i've updated the BIOS, still the same

There is also a digital out selector in the Realtek Contol Panel.

The realtek control panel is mapped to the windows sound :(
So if i enable in one side it's the same in other side.

Can you tell me if the light is ON during boot ?

I see no red light on my 6024W during boot up.

The only control I know of for the optical out is in the Realtek HD Audio Manager which should be in Control Panel. This has a digital output page on which the digital out can be enabled or muted. This turns the red light on or off.

I was almost sure that the spdif red light was on during boot.
Do you know any live cd that i can test, some sort of linux media-center, with embedded realtek HD drivers ?

My final move is the format :p

And thanks for the help ;)

Formatting won't turn the light back on during boot up. That would need to be something set in the BIOS. I have just tried enabling the optical out in the Realtek Control Panel and the light only comes on part way through the Windows loading.

Oh right, maybe the light was on during the Windows Loading
And not previously. So it might be a windows problem.

Maybe in the future, i'll format the **** machine :p

Also try uninstalling the Realtek software, clean the registry of any remaining Realtek entries, then reinstall the Realtek software.
