I have just bought a new Philips Microsoft Vista remote control (RC1974506/01) from Amazon UK for only £2 (GBP). I wasn't sure this would work as it was labelled wrongly as only for windows Vista Ultimate, but once the batteries were inserted it worked perfectly in all parts of Vista, not just the Media Centre. You may need to tweek the settings in the infra-red control panel but they are all there to make this work. This seems a great cheap remote which works well, I'm surprised that Zepto doesn't offer a remote, one is shown in their manual for the 6625WD.

    Edit: Corrected Amazon link.

We have only tested the machines with the Microsoft Media Centre Remote, but we do not sell these ourselves.

    Useful info.

I got an HP Express card remote to work with my 6024W under XP but not with Vista.

Could you share the IR settings which work for the Philips remote?

So could you use a Microsoft Media Center Remote directly with the infrared on the laptop or do you have to use the usb receiver.

X305, it works directly with the infrared in the 6625WD.

In the IR settings I found these work with the Philips remote:
    Infrared Tranceiver A - Vishay TFDS 6500
    Infrared Tranceiver B - Vishay TFDS 6500
Maximum Connect Rate - 4,000,000 bps

As Rene S says it works with the inbuilt infrared, you don't need a separate receiver.

On the package that came with my remote, it says it will work with Win XP MCE.
