Hi ppl I have been reading the forums and discovered the Rizeon S37S that I'm very interested in buying.
I called them up and had all my questions answered that were required.
It seems like the ideal 13.3" laptop for me.
What I wanted to know if whether its good value...is the price right?
The spec I'm interested in is:
13.3" WXGA Screen
Windows Vista Home Premium
2 Year Insurance backed warranty
Intel T7300 2GHz
2GB Ram
160GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
Nvidia 8400M G 256MB (dedicated)
DVD SuperMulti
Intel 4965AGN Wireless
1GB Intel Turbo Memory Card
Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound
959.98 Inc Vat
If it is i'm ordering 1 tomorrow![]()
Thanks

I recommend you check out the Rizeon FL90. For around the same price (£980), you can customize it to have a 7200rpm disk drive and a T7500 processor, plus it has an 8600m gt and a 15.4" screen.
-
yeah I know...i've seen it and its very good but i need something more portable...thats a good desktop replacement/gaming system for the price.
I just need something small, powerful and lightweight and I think portables always have that price premium...but thanks for the recommendation -
Would love to see just how portable and small it really is.
-
Ok I will do...the only reason I'm asking about price is because the only thing that i can find in comparison is the Samsung Q70...but you can't configure that with extras. I dont think its the slimmest 13.3" our there but if it still manages to be under 2kg it must be good because the rock pegasus 335 is 2.1Kg, Samsung Q70 2Kg and the Rizeon S37S is 1.95Kg and has more features/connections than all of them.
-
I reckon Rizeons are good value for money as you're not spending extra on the name or fancy cases etc. That said the S37S looks pretty good! I'm going for an FL90 a week today as the price is great and the flexibility of specification is great. For what I'm after it's spot on and I couldn't find the equivalent spec machine anywhere else within my budget, there was always either something missing or the price was too high. From the sound of it it's a similar story with the S37S.
-
Yeah it looks good
I'm sure i'll have loads of people asking me what it is.
cool i'm going to bite the bullet and order it tomorrow.
Will post pics etc when I get it. I should have it by the 9th July. -
Keep us posted Nigel, I've been wondering what their new models are like...I wish i was able to wait for a few months more because I would have gotten that S37S in a heartbeat. Looking forward to a mini review if you can please
-
I can't wait till the 9th of July when I get this thing...I added 4GB of memory...is that too much for a 13.3" lol!

This is based on the Asus S37s barebones model. You would be able to find more information about it in the various threads in the Asus forum.

Rizeon have now added a Z37S to their site. This is a black version of the S37S plus the finger-print reader.
I enquired and was advised that they are expecting a large shipment within the next two weeks.

Hmm, I think the S37s looks better than the Z37s. I find it interesting that in both cases, they chose contrasting exterior/interior colours (pearl white/metallic gray in the S37, black/silver in the Z37) as opposed to going with a single, solid colour like all black, all white, or all silver.
-
I think the Z37S looks better just because I'd prefer black and silver to white and silver. It looks more "finished", and less like the "afterthought"-like appearance of the white lid.
However, I'm not very acquainted with 13.3" notebooks, so the measurements mean little to me! So, judging by the screenshots, what are people's opinions... is this a relatively bulky notebook for its 13.3" form factor? Even though I'd still like my m1330 (world's thinnest 13.3" according to Dell), I'd be willing to settle for a decent-sized alternative.
Edit: To add to John's post, I've been told I'd receive a Z37S on 17th September if I ordered today. -

The Dell M1330 is the "thinnest", but only at the front. It is much thicker at the back. On average there may not be so much difference but the M1330 with the LED backlit display probably wins overall. Comparison is of specifications is made more difficult because some manufacturers ignore the feet. It would be useful to put these two computers side by side (plus the Sony SZ).

The M1330 and SZ are very wedge-like computers that go from under an inch thick to 1.4", whereas this S/Z37 stays at a relatively constant and flat 1.3".

ok finally got this after months of waiting and i must admit its a great machine. Rizeon were good with their compensation...i now probably have the highest spec portable there is
The S37S came with a fingerprint scanner. Rizeon are only showing the black z37s on their site now.
Does feel slightly heavier than 2kg though but its solid.
haven't got much time for a review but i'll quickly list the pro's and cons..
Pro's
- Bargain when configured to high specs
- Good bright screen
- solid build quality
- Excellent speakers for a 13.3" in my opinion.
- good keyboard, no flex...finally has the function to switch off lcd
- i've got 4gb ram, 160gb hd and t7700 and it stays pretty cool in opinion.
- no fingerprints get on the lcd cover, not sure if black one will be the same.
- camera quality is excellent...even in low light it seems good.
Con's
- Battery life is around 2hrs...max i can get tweaking setting is probably 2.5hs...but i do have the highest spec possible.
- chrome buttons get dirty quick.
all in all i think its a mini power plant rather than whats usually considered ultraportable. Its a really good size to travel and work with. -
Yea I would agree with you, got my S37S on tuesday, only real complaint is the battery life.
Otherwise its a great machine and definitely feels solid, no real creaks that I've discovered so far.
The catchless lid works well too, and the mechanism that keeps the lid down seems fairly strong, but then again I have only had it for a couple of days.
Oh, and the customer service I received from Rizeon was great, kept me informed and the compensation was good too.
Glad to finally have a new laptop! -
i was expecting the build quality to be good because its based on an asus model, the screen too...but i am very impressed with the speakers and the rotating camera...with the patterns on the lcd cover, and all the other gadgets it seems like a mix between hp and sony.
I ordered in June and to be honest the only reason i kept the order was because i was treated well and it was explained to me exactly why the delays were occuring then...i originally ordered a t7300, got upgraded to t7500 and then t7700 when the price dropped -
hi,
can anyone of the happy owners of the S37S tell me something about the noise which the notebook (hopefully not) produces. is the fan turned off when then book is in idle mode?
thanks.
