I am liking this very much, but the only concern I have is the battery life it offers. Have there been any tests done on the 6 cell battery that can show some kind of battery life based on non-intensive use?
Also, is there an extended battery option (like a 9 cell)?

I believe the Z37 should have a 6 or 9 cell option.
As for battery life, this review says 117 minutes, but its only one review. Can't say until its been released -
if that's true, its pretty terrible for a 13.3 inch... even for a 6 cell... i love asus notebooks but none of the do so well with the battery.

I would hope that the S37S / S37S could give similar battery life to the Samsung Q70 (very similar hardware spec) so it can be stretched to around 3 hours. If Asus have done well then a bit more might be possible.

That might have been one of those intensive DVD battery life tests, where everything gets much lower battery life than it would otherwise in regular use, but I doubt that, since the IFL90 (presumably on a 9 cell) gets like 4 hours of run time, which is pretty amazing since it has a 8600GT.

Battery life in minutes - continous run.
> Batteriet på Z37S skuffer dessverre litt. I vår test med BatteryMark

The battery on Z37S unfortunately disappoints a little. In our test with BatteryMark it holds up barely two hours, three quarters less than AcerTravelMate 6292 but MacBook is still ahead by over an hour.

As regards the fan, it's there all the time, but you ought to be in a relatively quiet room to hear it on low speed. When much work is done, the fan follows the load on graphics and cpu, and as the PC itself goes idle, the fan spins up, and back down accordingly.

When the fan spins up at first it cannot accurately be taken as a nuisance. Fortunately, the machine comes with four predefined power consumption settings, battery save, high output, gaming and 'quiet office'. With the last one the machine's performance is lowered at the gain of quieter and more even fanning.
----- Note that I don't speak fluent Norwegian, I know Swedish tho, which seems similar enough, but some things might not be crystal clear. It's mainly the good jist of what's been written in that multicom.no review as regards battery/loudness.

For those who are still interested in this: I have a Z37S and it's battery lasts about 2 hours under normal use. Under 'heavy' use it lasts a lot shorter: about an hour. It's one of the main con's about this notebook, otherwise it works perfectly

Has the battery lost capacity? You can use the battery details page of RMClock to see both the designed capacity and the current capacity. Based on my brief encounter with the Samsung Q70 (see my review) I would expect the upper limit of battery time to be less than 3 hours.
You can also see the undervolting guide, if you haven't already done so. This will help extend the battery time under heavy usage, but I suspect the GPU is also leaking power.
