Just started playing this today and was amazed at the horrible performance I got. I have installed the hotfix from ATI that is supposed to boost the performance for the game but it doesn't seem to have done anything. The frame rate was very inconsistent, even with lower settings. I wasn't anticipating any problems with this game as I didn't think it was that intensive. Maybe its a driver issue or something that needs to be worked out. Anyone else playing this and having similar issues? Would greatly appreciate some feedback.

Could be a crossfire (x2) issue. Guru3d tested this game, and a single 4870 outscored the 4870x2 in every setting:

Not sure if this hotfix addresses the crossfire scaling issue. -
What video drivers are you using?

I'm using standard ATI 8.11 with the hotfix applied. The hotfix is supposed to increase performance in STALKER but it doesn't look like it has. The sad this is, I can run Dead Space, COD4, COD5, The Witcher Enhanced Edition, and Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, all on max settings.

What settings are you running? Full Dynamic Lighting will bring your system to it's knees, depending on the time of day.
Also, what resolution are you running the game? WUXGA + FDL is probably too much for Crossfire 3870s. -
I initially tried max settings with DX 10.1 and that didn't go to well. So then I lowered them a bit, not sure if I turned off full dynamic lighting tho, will have to check on that. I guess I'm just kinda depressed that I can't take advantage of some of the effects. Hopefully once ATI puts out an official driver for this and gets their act together, the performance overall will go up.
Anyways, thanx for the tips. -
Luthi, you downloaded and tried the new 8.12 drivers yet? Will possibly make a huge difference. Let us know how it works out!
