The bluetooth icon (Fn+F11) has been blacked over so I know that's a vapor feature of this netbook but 3G doesn't turn on (Fn+F10) and show the OSD message (installed the newest version of OSD). Additionally there is no listing of the 3G driver (only the LAN and Wifi chips from Atheros).

Anyone know how to turn on 3G or is it a vapor feature? (The sim slot has contacts and took my sim card fine...)

If you do know how to turn it on, do you know where the drivers are (or at least the chipset model number)?

    Thanks in advance.

Try inserting your 3G module into the wifi mPCIE slot. If Windows detects a new/unknown device, it means the second mPCIE slot has been disabled on your netbook.

You can request a bios that will enable the 2nd slot from Hannspree but I wouldn't hold my breath for that to happen. Hannspree tech support stinks.

You can try to hardware mod the mpcie slot but that's complicated and not worth the hassle.

The bottom of my unit looks like this:
Behind the lower right door is the ram.
Behind the upper left door is the HDD cage.

I thought since the box said 3G (and it has a sim slot behind the battery) that it'd have a radio inside with the onboard wifi but a hidden empty mPCIE would explain why the radio doesn't show up on the hardware manager.

    Hi everybody!
I also baought a month ago this netbook, and also want to use the 3G function but the Fn+F10 combination not works. Windows XP cant find the sim slot (no new hardware in the device manager). There are no options in the BIOS to turn on/off the 3G (sim slot). I dont know what to do. I wrote E-mails to Hannspree company but no answers.

I opened the HDD cage and found an empty mPCIE. I think that it is for the 3G modem. Any answers are welcome!

Thanks steve. I was googling around and it looks like the FOXCONN NS20 is a good match for this netbook - it shows two slots. One where you describe.

    Answered Questions
    1) Antenna must be modded in yourself.

    Current questions pending
    1) Band? (T-Mobile is AWS 1700/2100 MHz frequency-band, ie needs a Qualcomm® MDM9200 chipset)
Edit: Used EVDO cards for Verizon are only $10.00 on ebay.
Even though I'm not intending to use Verizon I might buy it just to try in the slot.
    2) Is the mPCIE intended for a SSD or HDD and will do wacky things with the bios? (Unlikely but possible?)

I also looked for miniPCIE devices, but where I live (Ukraine) they are very expensive, (they can work in all bands GSM, GPRS, EDGE, 3G....) from 60USD and up. It's cheaper for me to buy a USB 3G and then unlock it. It'll cost just 15USD.
MiniPCIE SSD is interestig but I think that read/write speed will be lower than SATA HDD.
Its a pity that they're sell the book without the 3G modem, but what to do... Be happy 'cause our netbook it a small, clever device for everyday work.

Yes that is our motherboard on your picture Square. Foxconn also made an orange colour netbook like our.

Slot on the bottom of the pictured motherboard is for the 3g card. Once you put a mpcie card in there the FN+F10 key becomes active and provides power to the card when you press it. The slot is pretty much 3g only - I tried a SDHC adapter in there and it didn't even let me load drivers. (didn't show up as an unidentified device, win7)
