Any opinionated SR2 users/owners out there who feel like sounding off?

it looks like the SR2 is the same as Twinhead notebooks. I think I recall some one from P1 saying that the SR2 is indeed the Twinhead notebook, but is modified to an extent that you can't find it at other re-sellers of Twinhead..

While I don't know about the SR2,, the Twinhead has it's fans.. It is pretty durable.. However don't expect it to be a super book. While the keyboard may be spill proof, it doesn't mean the other outlets, such as the USB on the sides, etc are too. some one attempted to dip the notebook in water to test it out.. needless to say, it got damaged. I also heard that the keyboard feels different and takes some time getting used to as it has that layer of spill proof on the bottom.

Just got a SR2 three weeks ago. Unfortunately, I've been so busy with other things (grrrr) that I haven't had an opportunity to really check it out thoroughly. I can make a few observations though.

Someone in an earlier post mentioned loud fans. I haven't noticed that at all. I can barely hear them and I have to make a conscious effort to do so.

As far as heat goes, yes it does heat up somewhat at times, but not to an excessive degree, at least as far as I'm concerned. There are two fans, one on the side and the other on the bottom.

But the most labor-intensive thing I have done up so far is burn data DVDs onto an external DVD drive for a couple of hours last weekend. So I don't think I can really accurately comment on heat or noise at this point, but I suspect they won't be a problem.

Very, very nice screen, although some people might not be that crazy about the resolution (1400 x 1050). I was going to play around with the settings to see how things look if changed, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I've also heard that the SR2 is the same as Twinhead, but I didn't really see that when I checked the Twinhead site for comparative purposes. It's possible that the base configuration is the same. If that's so, then yes, P1 has definitely modified the SR2. I thought it had much better specs, in terms of having many of the features I wanted.

The SR2 is a semi-rugged laptop and that adds to its weight as well as its price, but I don't think it's all that heavy. It's certainly not an ultra-portable, but that's not what it is trying to be anyway. I have taken it to/from work a couple of times and it was fine. I really like the casing. It looks good and feels pretty sturdy.

I hope to work more intensively with the SR2 this weekend and get a stronger feel for it in terms of performance, etc.

One last thing. Many people have commented on P1's great customer service. That has certainly been my experience so far. It took me a couple of weeks to decide which laptop to buy from which company and I sent P1 several emails inquiring about various features. All were answered quickly and completely, as was an email I sent after I got my laptop. I ordered my laptop over the phone. The sales rep was extremely helpful and made deciding on the final configuration easy.

I won't say I love my SR2 (at least not yet), but I'm very happy with my purchase. Anyone thinking of buying a notebook of this type should definitely consider the SR2.

Hopefully I will have more observations shortly. If anyone has any questions, I will try and answer them to the best of my ability.

the SR2 is the Twinhead N15RB

Twinhead sells barebones to any OEMs, who then modify it to their own needs or to the customer's needs.

Well, I have owned my SR2 for about three months now and I am pretty happy with my unit thus far. In hindsight I probably would have been totally content with the Twinhead, but that is neither here nor there now. I am pretty sure that the upgrades and Portable One's costumer service made up for the price difference, as they had to send the machine ahead of me on a cross country trip where I met it in the middle. There was initially a bit of delay as a result of their relocation, but we were all still able to coordinate the chaos enough for me to recieve the computer in Durango,CO.

The machine itself is clean and sleek, and light enough for what it is. The overall lack of superfluous bundled software was my favorite aspect of this aquisition. It's clean all the way around and it has run smoothly as my only computer through two countries thus far with no real problems.

My only real complaint with my SR2 is two-fold. First, the DVD/RW drive. It has never seemed too durable and it is often very difficult to open. I have almost called P1 about five times now, but about the time I pick up the phone it opens effortlessly for at least the next ten times. Lastly the screen, while being clear and tough, is a touch wobbley. If you intend on using this unit in a moving vehicle you may have to provide additional support for the screen. It feels like it needs to be tightened, but there are no visible adjustments.
