I have a Sager NP2090 for two years now and it has been rock solid.

    Strange thing happened....

I have been running Win7 RC1 for months and just upgraded to Win 7 RTM yesterday. After I installed the Nvidia display drivers (Vista versions from Sager), during restart the screen was dead. There is even no video during POST or boot now.

I walked away from the laptop for a few hours, came back, turned it on and the screen was working again. Thinking the video drivers were faulty, I downloaded newer version AND the same thing happened.

I have tried everything in my powers to get the screen going again.

Does anyone have some insight on what I can try?

    Thanks!

After reading a ton, it seems my GPU is fried. I took it out and will order a replacement (probably an ATI 3650). I will let you know how I make out.

    sour,
I don't think your cards bad, I have experienced the same problem with my
MSI GT627-216US, I installed Windows 7 RTM form Technet plus all the drivers installed fine but every time, I installed the Nvidia driver and tried to start Windows with just the battery the blank screen would appear, I know my laptop is working because I hear the welcome sound.
Starting the laptop with the A/C adapter makes the problem go away, I think the problem are the nvidia Drivers.

Does your laptop show the POST screen? My doesn't even do that. I have tried booting with XP and various recovery CD and nothing works.

If it doesn't post, then it is most definitely an hardware fault.

Posting here as well. It was the GPU. I got my ATI3650 today and I cannot believe I got it working. I never thought it would work after disassembling it.

I just need some advice on cooling. Should I just apply AS5 to the GPU and the CPU before I put things back together?
